If you're that worried about it do a hotsync daily. That's what I do.

If you want to backup your Zire, of course do daily hotsynchs...then transfer your User ID folder from your PC to a micro (thumb drive) or CD. That will give you a true backup...not just a very fallible hotsynch.

Do you also do the same thing to backup the programs that are on the PDA?

A hotsync backs up the files that are on the PDA, at least those with the backup attribute set. With a plain Zire, there isn't much more you can do. With a Palm that has an SD card slot, you can back up everything on the Palm to the card.

If you are addressing my reply, backing up your User ID folder on your PC to a USB microdrive or to a CD WILL backup all your PDA's data, but it's just so much easier to have a Z71 or newer Palm that has SD card backup capabilities...then you can backup anytime during the day and not have to trust a sometimes untrustworthy hotsynch with a PC that may not even be available to you when you need it to restore your data.Bill
