Question Zire and M130 desktop compatibility.

Not a problem, just a question I could not find in Palm's FAQ. My wife has the Zire and it works great! No problems, everything works fine and we synch to Outlook and Quicken without any difficulties. I am getting the M125 or M130 for myself to replace my Zire that I also have, and "ditto" for all of the above.
My question is, when I get the new Palm, do I load the software for the new Palm in addition to the Zire software, or can we continue just to use the Zire setup we have, with a new user name for the new Palm? Or do I need to remove Zire's software from the desktop? Then reload everything? Or, am I just making this more difficult than it really is? I do not want to mess this up, since right now everything is working so well!
I will also post this question in the M100 forum, where it will also I think be pertinent. If that is not the correct thing to do Ms. or Mr. Moderator please excuse my "newness"!

You will need to leave the Zire software installed. The m130 will work fine with that

(but the Zire won't work with the m130 software)

As a general rule, use the most up-to-date software you have; since the Zire is released slighlty later than the M130, go for that one.

I used to say "Just downlaod the latest from palm.com" but they are being slow to put the Tungsten version up there...

    Smile Thanks!

Thank you all very much. I also got an email just now saying the same thing -- go with the installed Zire software and keep on going! You all were first with the "Right Stuff" and I do thank you!

I'm sure that it will all work fine. When you HotSync for the first time, the computer will realize that you are not using the Zire. It will then ask you for a new username. After this is done, you can use both handhelds on the same computer with ease.
