Is it necessary to delete appts.?

I just purchased a Palm Zire and am quite happy with it. Is it necessary to delete information, i.e. appointments, meetings, tasks, etc., after the fact. If not, doesn't it clutter up the memory? This is my first palm and I need some advice.

Hello Lynda.

If you want to purge old meets from your date book, you can use the Palm Desktop Purge Events command, which can be found under the Tools menu.

Before you purge events, you have the option of archiving the date to your desktop computer. That way, if you ever have to check on when you when to an appointment, you can open the archive file on the comptuer, and not have the data cluttering up the RAM on the Palm Zire.

My appointments go back to 1997, when I got my first handheld device. I have hundreds and hundreds of appointments, and my DatebookDB- the database in which they are held- is still less than 150k.

Kudos to Palm for a compact format.

I do choose which appointments I want to keep, though, just so things are less compact.



So, to summarise:

-You can certainly delete appointments if you want, but you don't have to.
-If you do decide to delete them, you can "archive" them so that they remain available on your PC via the Palm Desktop application.
