Whether the Zire is "a piece of junk" or not is in the eyes of the consumer I guess. I was in a Future Shop in Halifax NS on Saturday and the sales guy said they'd been selling quite steadily since he got them in the previous Wednesday. In fact while I was in the store, I saw two people buy one. Unfortunately the price is $169CDN -- were it cheaper, say, under $150, or better yet $99CDN -- I would probably have picked one up myself.

I did play with one for a bit. The style is impressive, and the unit itself is the functional equivalent of a IIIe without a backlight[*]. The LiIon battery will probably last for *months*, which is a great feature.
[*] that means it *does* have a TCP/IP stack and a 16-shade monochrome screen. I tested both.

Remember the Zire is starting at $100, while the M105 is ending it's life at $100.
Ending? The life of mine has just begun! I mean, I discovered a company that makes network adapters for them, and somebody else pointed out the pocket pyro, which gives it a Sound Card and an SDIO/MMC slot. No, I think the M105 still has some time, yet. I'm gonna grab one of those pocket pyro thingies as soon as I get the cash. (Heh, what's funny is if you use a pocket pyro intended for one of the palms that already has an SDIO/MMC slot, you end up with TWO. I know some people are gonna do some downright geeky things with it.)

As for internet, okay, so maybe it can do TCP/IP, but I'm still having some trouble believing that it has the hardware capability to put any use to the internet other than MAYBE some small web clippings(the software for which is not included). It can't even use the full capacity of avantgo, and probably wouldn't have the memory for much else.
