video format?
Ive captured a video onto my pc (using a video capture card, and the 'showbiz and myDvd' apps), it's in .mpg format. However when I put this on the PDA , the media app does not recognize it, cant even see that the file exists on the sd card. Ive also tried to save as an .AVI file.
Any suggestions?
Do I need to convert the .mpg into another format before transferring to the pda, and if so, what software will do this conversion?
thanks a lot.scott

I had a chat with myself about that very point:

cool. dragging the mpg (video) onto the palm desktop media converts it to the correct format, and its about 1/8th the size of the original. I didnt see this documented anywhere, and I was going thru a number of complicated steps to get the video in the correct format for the media player to read. Thanks!

So, the new media app handles video. Can someone take the converted mpeg file out of the quick install tool and transfer it to an sd card with a reader? I am VERY interested in this and am downloading the new desktop now. I think I might like to get me hands on the new media application.

Not problem - it doesn't go to the quick install tool - it converts then places on the expansion card for you - probably in DCIM.

Hmm. And it might be more stable than MMPlayer. I really need to get my hands on this!

I almost have this working, but I have 2 remaining questions.
1) After converting the video mpg file by dragging it onto the palm desktop media window, how do I get it onto the zire? If I hotsync it will copy the file to the pda (but takes forever), I'd rather just use my card reader to copy the file onto the card.
2) Once I hotsync the file to zire Im having trouble deleting it later. If I delete from the pda using the media app, the next time I hotsync it tries to copy it back to the pda (hotsyc media is set to syncronize). I guess I could delete the file from the pda, and also from the pc (palm desktop, media). Is that the correct process?
Thanks.scott

I don't have a Z72 so I am trying to understand what it is you are doing to get the video onto a card or whatever in the format that works. I tried an avi file in the DCIM folder in a z72 and it could not read the file (it works fine on my T3 in MMPLayer). I downloaded the latest desktop from Palmone, so what can I do to create this video so I can go to the shop and see how it plays?
