Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
Newbie here ...
I am looking to replace my destroyed Zire72. When I looked for replacmeent Zires, it didn't surprise me that hr 72 was outdated. I was really REALLY disappointed in the trend I see that PDAs have taken feature-wise - wow! Everything is moving to the phones! Ack!
Anyway, I've tried all the big-box stores to see if they have any have covered 4 states (Midwest), Amazon, I see some on Ebay occasionally, but hardly nothing NIB. I looked @ Overstock.Com, Biz & shopzilla ... etc. Any other places I should be checking? I tried Crazedlist.org & did a multi-state search, but only find used ones. I'm not "too good for a used one" but I'd MUCH rather have a new one. Any secret stashes out there? I mean, eventually, I would imagine people would WANT to rid themselves of unsold goods.
Also - anyone know if RhinoSkin ever made their titanium case for the Zire72? Evidently, Aluminum is a little too soft
heheh ... I know those monster puppies saved my first USRobotics Palm quite a number of times!
Thanks!!!!

Good luck with your quest. You may want to include the Zire72se in your search.

Re: Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
Why are you recommending using a 2G card in another thread when your device is DEAD and you know the recommended card size limit is 1G?
Just asking...

Re: Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
LOL ...
Um, I might have mis-typed - sorry - I'll go back & re-read it.
My dead Zire72 I used a 2Gig card with no problems. On the T3 I'm using now, I tried the 2Gig card and had problems - I'm now on an 512Meg one in that unit, and it's fine.
Right now, the 2Gig card is sitting on my desk wishing it could be put into my replacement Zire72, which is why I started this thread.
I'll check-out what i wrote to make sure I don't mislead anyone.

Re: Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
My suggestion for a replacement would be to check Chris Short, PDAParts.com, and UsedPDAParts.com (alphabetical order). They are all in the business of repair and sell refurbished units. Inventory varies. Chris sells on ebay and there is a sticky on how to reach him in the Palm General forum; IIRC his ebay screen name is iamnothere.

Re: Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
Awesome - thanks!!! Will do! I'll be glad to stop using this T3 on borrowed time (in more ways than one apparently, hehe!)
Thanks for the tip!

Re: Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
I rechecked and my apologies to you.
You did state Zire72 (which does support 2G), while my memory recalled Zire71 (which has a 1G limit.)

Hey, no sweat - the "1" key is REALLY close to the "2" key, so it totally could have been my crappy typing, hehe!

Re: Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
Try a site called www.gizmos2go.com They sell new, refurb and "only used for two weeks by a little old lady at a trade show" Zire 72's. Going rate is about a buck and a half or so, if i remember correctly. They warranty what they sell. Good luck

Re: Sources for New Replacement Zire 72s?
Thanks! I actually got one (hopefully) coming new in the box for $190 shipped ... I'll find out over the next few days ... I gotta admit - I'm gettin' the shakes! hehe!
But in the long-run, since the trend seems to be sway from cam/VR/etc on these things, I might just keep lookin' & have a spare for the next time I run over mine with a Bobcat ... I called a big-box store and they said they MIGHT have a few that haven't been "RTV"d - and their computers showed they were marked @ $59! Wow!, that would RULE!!! Might buy a couple more! If I make a score, I'll let others know, in case we all wanna get in on some of them.
