Smile zire 72 won't turn on

My Zire 72 won’t turn on.

If you press the power button nothing happens.

If you press the reset button at the back and the power button, nothing happens.

If you plug in a usb lead nothing happens.

If you plug in the power cable the green charging light comes on. (While charging it still won’t turn on)

I’ve had the zire for about 2 years and use it every other day. The last thing I was doing was swapping SD cards.

If anyone can suggest a way to fix this problem I’d be eternally grateful.

    Regards Iwan.

    DONT CHARGE.

i hear, just leave it there for about a week, let the battery discharge, and then it should turn on in like a week, at least i thinkt hat is what u do.

this has happened to many people before. search the forums and you should be able to come up with something.

It seems that your Z72 is fully frozen, iwan. In this case you have to either let the battery fully drain as techno nerd suggests, or disconnect the battery from the mainboard. Leaving the battery drain completely may take very long, so if you want to use your Z72 right away you will have to disconnect the battery. To do this you have to open the Z72's case, voiding any warranty you may have.

Just to be sure the battery is not completely flat, try leaving it charging for 1 hour, see if the palm powers up. I think techno nerd advises against charging because any extra charge you apply now will lenghten the discharge time, but otherwise it's ok to do it.

Thank you both very much for your help. I'll take the leave it drain option as I don't really trust myself with a screw driver.

    Regards, Iwan.

    Hi

Just a quick update, my palm is back and working fine. I left it for about 5 days and then after a couple of hard-resets it fired back into life.

I sync-ed it with my computer and everything now seems fine.
