    Exclamation Brando Screen Protector

I just received my Brando SP and I put it on my palm.. ..I experienced the unresponsive screen as well but somehow I managed to get it to shift on the screen. But, I would like to know how in the world do I remove this thing when I need to?

I've tried to figure it out but I have no clue and I don't want to bust the screen in the process.

Any suggestions or proven methods will help.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't trust screen protectors. (they iritate me)

but, if you REALLY want to use one, you could get one with an adhesive surface so it sticks to the screen.

also, try to get one that is exactly, or at least a close match to, your screen size (including Graffiti pad).

Default scotch tape does the trick

To pull off a Brando, or any other screen protector, wrap the end of your finger in scotch tape, gently push your finger down on a corner of the screen, and gently lift it up. The protector should come with the finger.

Let me know if it works!!

Safe method: Use a few inches of Scotch tape, stick most of it to a corner of the screen protector with an inch or so sticking off diagonally so you can try to peel up a corner. If the corner does not lift, readhere and burnish it down a bit before trying again and lifting s-l-o-w-l-y. Try another corner if needed.

UNSAFE method: This works great but YOU GOTTA BE CAREFUL! Use a shapr-pointed instrument with a good grip (I use a pointly Xacto knife). Carefully use the tip to pick up a corner of the protector.

It is odd that the brando in and of itself is causing problems- unless theproblem is that it is skewed. This is usually a very satisfactory item!

    Madkins & Dennis: Thanks!

I will go with the tape idea first and then if it fails I'll lean towards stabbing my screen with various sharp objects . I won't stab it though. Other than that I like the SP. It has been living up to its promises I just have yet to remove it.

But.. ..I will definitely give these a try. Thanks again.

Okay, consider this from someone that doesn't like the idea of anything sticking to my PDA's screen and also doesn't want to spend much on screen protectors. Maybe this should be called the Red Green solution.

Try experimenting with overhead material. I'm talking about the stuff used for powerpoint presentations and such at work. For my Sony, I cut a piece about 5% larger than the display and with a little adjusting it all fit under the edges of the screen and lasted several months. For the Zire, I'm using two types of overhead. For the display area, I use a thin, more clear type, and for the writing area a thicker type that has more friction. When the writing part gets too marked up, it's easy to replace.

Just my 2 cents worth- I tried pretty much every screen saver- commercial and homemade- since I got my first PDA in '99.

As for me, I have never found a DIY solution that was better than the Boxwave-style of protectors. The only benefit I ever noticed in DIY solutions was that they were the cheapest.

Some people have reported problems with 'slip-in' screen protectors and the Z71- for some of the PDAs, the gap between the screen and case is tight enough that a slip-in protector applies a bit of pressure to the screen. This DOES NOT happen to everyone, though!

You DO have a LOT of DIY options, however. Removeable tape (or Post-its) on the Grafitti area, clear vinyl film adhered with static and/or a drop of water, overhead film, window decal cling film... Heck, I even heard from a guy who saves the stiff plastic windows in boxes to use for his protectors!

You might try a Google search for home-made screen protectors- I was surprised a year ago at how many popped up!
