Question Data loss during air travel

    Hello!

Every time I fly, I lose all data on my Zire21 and I have to start over. Luckily, I remeber to sync before I fly! Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any ideas on possible solutions?

    Thank you!

There is nothing about airplanes that should cause this. I've never lost anything on my T3, nor the Zire 71 before it. Any chance it's getting turned on accidentally, perhaps kept on, by the buttons, and the battery going dead?
    Regards,

Perhaps it was too close to a cell phone. This thread has more details.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I had actually considered that the battery had died, but each time I check it and that's not it.

I don't think it's the cell phone either since the Zire21 is always in the same place...in my purse.

It is certainly a mystery to me!! I've travelled about seven times in the 15 months since I have had this Palm and each time the same thing happens. Moreover, I have never had data loss at any other time.

    Thank you!

Wow, that is weird. When I fly, and it isn't as often as 21user, I haven't run into this problem. I have flown with a small army of devices - i705, m505, Tungsten T, Tungsten T3 - without any issues. Each time I travel, the device do get x-rayed (no data loss) and get carried on the plane in my laptop bag. I kept the laptop and the Palms (I usually travel with 2 - it's always a good idea to have a backup) under the seat in front of me.

    Hmmm.....
