Palm Desktop on 64 bit OS?
I gave my Zire 21 to my son when I upgraded to the TX a couple years ago. College life being more complicated than he expected, he has finally decided to actually use it.
Problem is that he says he's got a 64-bit operating system and therefore can't install the Desktop software on his computer. Is there any way around this problem?

Re: Palm Desktop on 64 bit OS?
The only known way to sync with a 64 bit computer is via Bluetooth, which unfortunately the Zire 21 does not have.

Re: Palm Desktop on 64 bit OS?
Uh, and that's an option. I thought it couldn't be done anyway.
The Zire 21 is so basic that, after the few steps trying to make it multipurpose, eventually the user has to downsize the own expectations of service.
A good choice is that the kid finds any computer around at his reach, only to hotsync on backup intentions, and depending on what computer that may be, to sync on a regular basis but not necessarily a very frequent basis. Rather that, than attempting any of far shot options that may actually jeopardize a good mobile system he can build out of the Zire 21. And then, apart from backup, use it as a standalone device."Do or do not. There is no try." - Yoda. "Nothing is neither wear-proof, nor fail-proof, least fool-proof." - HAL. IR sync could also work, but would require an IR adapter on the PC.

Oh, that'd be good. Then I perceive the 64-bit restriction may rely around USB connection, actually. I attempted several IR hotsyncs with my Zire 21 and my PC (non-64-bit) and I was kinda successful. But side issues made me drop the option. Especially, the IR port speed. However adjusted, it is actually a slow connection, and some big chunks of data either passed through like myself swallowing a chicken, or they delayed so much that the hotsync incurred in a timeout.
