HotSync Problem
Hi,
I am a technophob whose dh takes care of all computer issues. He is not home and I am having problems doing a HotSync with our desktop. He recently did a system restore to our pc and has since reinstalled my palm software. I am able to HotSync with our laptop but when I try to perform a HotSync with the desktop I get a message saying: The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again. When I go into setup under the local tab I have selected serial port COM3 and speed as fast as possible. Any help? I need to do this before dh gets home.
Thanks in Advance!

Re: HotSync Problem
Welcome to Brighthand, peadoodle.

You need to give some more info in order for someone to help. What is the OS on your PC? After the System Restore & the reinstallation of Palm Desktop that you mention, was there a successful Hotsync performed? Why do you have a serial port COM checked instead of a USB connection?

Re: HotSync Problem
I have returned home...I recently completed a full system recovery not a restore. The Palm program is in the PC but the hotsync function will not work. I have tried to reload the cd but it still will not work. I suggested an un-install and then re-install but wifey has too much stuff on the desktop that has not been hotsync'd. Any suggestions?
As far as the OS it is XP, and to answer the setup question, under the local tab the only selection is for a serial port and not a USB so I have it set to COM1.

Re: HotSync Problem
well, even though it'd help to know what version of Palm desktop you're using, and XP Home or Pro, and what SP, you could still do an uninstall/reinstall if you first copy the entire Palm folder (including sub-folders & files), and after the reinstall just replace the new Palm folder with the old one, & finally HS to the device. Speaking of which, is your HS cable serial or USB? the more info the better

Re: HotSync Problem
What? I didn't know that newer Palm OS devices can be synced using serial... I thought they were USB only devices.Speaking of which, is your HS cable serial or USB?
