Advice on new smartphone
Hi all,
I found this forum from the laptop review forum and I would appreciate advice on a new smartphone and plan.
I have been with Verizon all my life so I would like to stay with the company unless what I want cannot be achieved at a reasonable price.
I am currently on a family plan with my parents but when I am eligible for a new phone in october I plan on buying my own phone and separate plan because I can get a 20% monthly discount from my work.
I don't really talk on the phone all that much so 450 min per month is plenty for me.
What I want to do is buy a phone that can be tethered to my laptop and give me internet access. How much would it cost to have unlimited data per month? Do discounts count towards data packages? Also, I plan on purchasing the samsung i760 since I like the qwerty keyboard and standalone wifi. Can a blackberry device be tethered to my laptop and give me internet access?
Thanks

Re: Advice on new smartphone
The i760 can share its connection through Bluetooth through DUN (Dial Up Networking). I don't think a Blackberry can, but it might be able to. If all you want to do with it is connect your laptop to it and use the internet connection, some carriers have a wireless laptop card that connects to their network.
Past and current devices: Palm m505 (Sold) > Palm Zire 71 (nonfunctional working) > Tapwave Zodiac 1 (nonfunctional) > Palm Tungsten T5 (nonfunctional tenatively functioning) + SE w300i + 2GB SanDisk SD + Cheap $5 keyboard (that works…)(sold) > Cingular 8125 (retired) + 2GB MicroSD in adapter > Nokia N800 + 4GB SDHC + 8125's 2GB MicroSD in adapter + Palm M505
