Verizon Data Speeds? (all 'round the USA)
This is a sort of poll on the Data speed people are getting using Verizon.
In NE GA, I'm only getting 366kbps on EV-DO and in 1xRTT areas I'm getting 32kbps
I know a guy that helped me set up my Verizon data and he gets 1.2mbps consistantly on his account near D.C.
What speeds is everyone else getting? (and does anyone have any tricks (legal tricks or gray-area tricks (read: akin to dissabeling NAI to tether), nothing illegal) to get any better speeds...?)"Thank you for helping us, help you, help us all" - GLaDOS, PORTAL

Verizon varies heavily here from test to test, even with good signal I've seen anywhere from 500 to 900 Kbits.

Re: Verizon Data Speeds? (all 'round the USA)
It annoys me to hear so many people getting 500+ speeds... I know for a fact from a verizon employee that in my area tehy capped the speed to try and decrease piracy... the most expensive BUISINESS account and msot expensive datacard/phone will only get 400kbps here...
I'm curious wheather they're capping it everywhere or if I jsut got 'lucky' with my area being capped..."Thank you for helping us, help you, help us all" - GLaDOS, PORTAL

I just tested it today, and got 815, so I can't imagine it's being capped out here.

Well, VZW supposedly has all Rev. A towers now (see evdoforums.com). You've only got Rev. 0, which is expected the way you're doing it. I'm getting a good 600-1200 almost everywhere I go around the Chicago/Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin area. (A few dips in fringe areas to around 2-300.)
I wouldn't put it past VZW to cap it though. See what you get in a neighboring area. (You are using a USB cable/modem not bluetooth, right?).Austin

Re: Verizon Data Speeds? (all 'round the USA)
FYI, I was testing on a Rev. 0 device as well.

Oh, yeah. Should of mentioned that. I'm Rev 0 as well. I'm more on the low end out towards the country, but in downtown Chicago on the train/bus I get four bars/fast speeds.
