DST update for Palm Vx with Palm OS 4.1
I just upgraded my Palm Vx to Palm OS 4.1. In the Date & Time Preferences, I noticed that toggling the DST setting always causes the time to flip by an hour, regardless of the date that I have set. It seems that Palm OS 4.1 not keep track of when the 1 hour offset is suppose to be applied. I wonder if there is something I'm missing, because it seems strange to have a DST setting that doesn't intelligently figure out what dates it is suppose to apply to. After all, I can manually adjust the time for DST myself without a DST switch.
I also found DST updates at http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/com...e/9306_en.html and http://www.palm.com/us/support/mobil...st_palmos.html, though they don't apply to Palm Vx. Since I'm up to Palm OS 4.1, can I safely install these?
I also noticed that the DSTUpdater.prc coming from these two sites are not the same. Why would they differ?

My m130 is OS4.1 and must be manually adjusted for DST. AFAIK, automatic adjusting for DST began with OS5, at least in the case of my listed devices.

Yeah, it's weird that there's even a DST switch on Palm OS 4.1. It doesn't seem to add any functionality, since it doesn't figure out what dates are subject to the 1 hour shift. In other words, activating the switch imparts the 1 hour shift, regardless of the date. It's no different than manually changing the time yourself. This didn't seem to make sense to me, so I was wondering if I was missing something.

I never even realized it had that setting. It's a bit like an older VCR that had 'Summer Time' and 'Winter Time.' (i.e. it just flipped the hour forward or back in the days before VCR's reset themselves). It IS easier than going through the steps of changing the time manually.
