Special (hidden) stylus stroke list?
Every once in a while I see reference to some special stylus strokes to access hidden commands. One that comes to mind is something like a double-stroke (command) followed by the number 8. I believe that reverses the backlight somehow. Is there a list somewhere that shows these codes and how to access them?

See here

You start by making the command stroke then a dot and then the number.Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001

Re: Special (hidden) stylus stroke list?
Many thanks to Holvoetn. You've put me on the right track bit I'm still having a problem. Let me explain.
I resurrected an orphaned Palm Vx that had sat idle for several years. As expected, the battery gave up a long time ago so I bought a new replacement. Due to a mixup from the shipper, I got two batteries instead of one. Okay, I paid the vendor for another battery and all is well. I replaced the old battery and it charged just fine. However, within three or four hours the Vx says the battery is low and shuts down. Okay, I know how to fix that. I did an in-the-cradle soft reset but no change. On to plan "B". I put the second (new) battery in and it showed the same characteristics. I measured the charge voltage from the cradle. It was 4.06 volts. Okay, I checked the previous new battery (which would no longer power the Palm) and it's showing 3.7 volts, open circuit.
So, back to the drawing board. I went to the list of commands Holvoetn suggested and tried #7. No joy, it didn't work. Then I found a post by Mark F back in 2001 on how to invert the backlight which used the Grafitti shortcut symbol (list a script lower case "L") followed by a dot and the #7. Bingo, almost. No matter how many times I try it, it always shows Lithium Ion. There is no way to change the drop-out threshold.
I think I've read almost every post made for the Palm V series back seven or eight years but am still struggling. For what it's worth, I'm running OS 3.5.0 in the Vx. Maybe I can jump it up to 3.5.3 and see if that helps.
Bottom line, I'm sure learning a lot about these critters but so far the score is Vx 1, OldGeezer 0.

Changing the battery type using dot-shotcuts does not work on PDA's with factory installed rechargable batteries. It only works on PDA's that use AAA batteries so you can use the different kinds of AAA's.

Re: Special (hidden) stylus stroke list?
Well, that makes sense Josser. I also have a straight Palm V in my aresnal and it's working flawlessly so I guess I'll have to live with the 2 megs of memory. Either that or I can revert back to my faithful Palm IIIx with 4 megs. I kinda miss not having the complete King James Bible on the 'Vx, though, but I'll live without it.
