Reset Error
I recently purchased my Palm Vx a month ago or so. However, at least two or three times a day the Palm requires me to reset everything. I charge the Plam every night and when this message comes up it causes a huge drain on the battery. I have lost all my info at least 2 times so far (thankfully everything is backed up on my PC). I also get "Fatal Error, please reset" every three or four days or so. The last time I did it (today) I didn't loose all my info but the battery is almost completely drained. Is this a problem with the battery/OS/Palm itself? I thought I would post here before trying to deal with tech support.
Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.

I too have just experienced the same problem, I think. While attempting to download email messages to my PalmVx via a modem and ISP I received a Fatal Exception. When I performed a soft reset the Palm started to flash the Palm logo with a bold horizontal and vertical line across the screen. The only solution was a hard reset causing the loss of all data and non-core programs. I restored everything from the PC backup and then tried to get my emails again. The same thing happened. I have not found any advice from Palm in their documentation or on the support web page. I have not had the time to call tech support yet. I'd sure like to avoid this but still get my emails!

Well I just spoke to tech support and what they told me was that the fatal exception error is normally caused by a conflict with any other appls/programs that have been installed on the palm. While there are hundreds on the palm sight the company does not officially support them all. What it looks like they will do (once I get home) is they will rename the directory where all of those extra programs are and they will be deleted off the palm. I will then have to go back and reinstall them one at a time. All of this would be done during a hot-sync operation (if memory servers). The tech mentioned that this may not identify which appl is causing the fatal exception error. I may just remove quite a few of the appls I don't use and reinstall the critical ones. Heck, I don't need to play any games on my palm anyway, that's what the home PC is for, right??

The most obvious culprits are apps which have to wake up at certain times to do things automatically or system hacks/patches/etc. Whenever I have a mysterious crashing situation, I start by disabling all hacks and "automated" apps, then slowly start adding them back until I find out what's conflicting.
