Palm VX - user name change

Im a long time Palm user and both my husband and I have a Palm VX. I have been the only one sync'ing with my PC, but now he wants to do it - I have created a user name with his name on the PC, but I cant seem to change the name on his Palm from my name to his name.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming his Palm already has a name that is different from the name on your Palm? To check, tap on the HotSync icon on the Palm; the username will be at the top.

If they are different, syncing his Palm with the PC (using Palm Desktop - it's much more complicated otherwise) is just a matter of putting his Palm in the cradle and pushing the HotSync button. A new user will automatically be set up.

If you're not syncing with Palm Desktop, we'll need more details.

Not a problem, Dulce.

I'm not entirely clear -- I'm assuming you have two Palms, but does your husband's Palm have your username on it, and is that name the same as the username on your current unit?

If so, and if he has little or no information on the Palm to save, simply hard reset his Palm, and HotSync. When prompted by HotSync Manager, select his username (the one you set up on the desktop) to sync to, and you're off to the races!

If he does have information on his Palm he wants to save, you'll need to download and install a copy of ChangeName 3.02 (freeware, formerly known as PalmName), which will allow you to change the username on his Palm (if he is not able to install it through the usual HotSync method, install it on your Palm first and beam it to him).

Thank you both for your help!!! I downloaded the CHange Name software and updted my husband's palm with his name and it works great!!
