Question What's your favorite keyboard for the Palm V?

I've been testing out a few different keyboards for the Palm Vx and was wondering what you thought?

    Thumbs up Palm Portable Keyboard

Far and away, the Palm Protable (Stowaway).

Folds up small, full size when opened, laptop-like feel, more and more software support in my favorite apps.

And then there is the WOW factor when others see it for the first time.

Yes, I've got both a GoType and a PPK and the PPK wins for me. I'm a touch typist, and the GoType is just a little too smaller than standard to be comfortable for me.

However, I really wish they'd designed it to be able to "lock" the centre hinge! Then, in a pinch, I could use it on my lap.

It's also worth mentioning, anybody using either a GoType or a PPK should look at Paul Nevai's excellent

Well I swore I'd never whip out one of those PPK contraptions out in public, but a week with a friend who let me use his convinced me. Now that's saying something.

I used to use FITALY prior to that for the sake of being discreet. There's still a good use for FITALY since you can't always pull out the PPK. It's a pity the original FITALY doesn't work on my m505, I liked it over the stamp for intermittent use since the stamp took over my silkscreen area and hosed my hack activation strokes.

Will, are you sure you have the most recent version of Fitaly Stamp? All my hack activation strokes work just like they would if FS weren't there - no tapping to turn off Fitaly any more.

Really? Jean Ichbiah, was trying to send me one but I never got to use it since I was so mobile at the time I could find a place for him to send it to!

I know that Jean and Bozidar were working on a pass-though, but at the time of the beta, my understanding was it was an API and utilized the far left and right unused "slither" of silkscreen. So I didn't push the idea any further.

You didn't include the HatKer, the HatKer2, or the Happy Hacking Cradle, which allow full-sized, PS2 keyboard to connect to the Palm.
And what about that roll-up keyboard, or the one that's also a case, or the one that's also a cover, or...

heheh, I know you can't cover all the options. I'm just playing with you. ;-)

Since I've only ever tried a couple, those being the GoType and the PPK, and I own the PPK, I'd have to choose it over the others. With the latest driver, there's a pointer included, so I don't need PointerHack anymore. I got it for $20 when Office Depot had a flyer misprint. If I ever upgrade my device, I'll probably get one of those new bridge connectors so I can still use my PPK.

    Thumbs up

PPK, no question about it. I may never have to purchase a laptop as a result. And I love the "wow" reaction too when I show the co-workers what it can do. I actually carry both the palm and the keyboard in a coat pocket if I think I'm going to be inputing a lot of data when I travel. I do wish it had a center lock as well for plane/train/road trips. Maybe next generation keyboard suggestion???

I finally saw a ThumbBoard up close and personal today and I must say it's a nifty little gadget. Far & away the most portable keyboard I've seen so far.

I do like my GoType but it might be retiring soon -- I have to make a choice between getting a Bridge so I can continue to use it or the ThumbBoard... so far the ThumBoard is winning
