    Default Tungsten W

    Dear All,

I bought Tungsten W year anda half ago. I have been really disppointed by its phone feature...it doesnt run seamlessly with other applications. Secondly I tried putting a flip cover with ear phone and mic on it. It was a horrible performance with phone jamming every now and then.

I discussed this problem with the official distributor / agent in Dubai and what he said was an eye opener. He said" Sir...unfortunately T-W was a beta product used by the manufacturer to test the market". This view was confirmed by the fact that you can no more find T W on Palm One website (check the model comparison chart at: http://www.palm.com/us/products/compare/

and you wont find Tw on it !

It feels owners of TW have been disowned by Palm One!

I have been looking to buy a hands free kit and I have not found it with any of the distributors in Dubai...can any body pls help me tio buy one in Saudi Arabia?

    Best regards,

    Bilal

I'm not certain when the T|W was discontinued, but my guess is that you purchased yours right about the time that it was. The statement that the T|W you have was a beta product could be argued to death by either side. It was the next in the series of VII -> VIIx -> i705 -> T|W. I even think I saw something that said the T|W started off as the i710?? but was renamed before final production. With Palm's aquisition of Handspring and the Treo line, this phone all but dried up...

Unfortunately, due to it's being discontinued, you won't find much of anything on www.palm.com. Due to your location, I'm affraid I can't tell you much on where to find parts for it either..

Try looking up stuff on ebay, amazon, yahoo auctions.. see if there are any local equivalents... see if they ship internationally...

    Best of luck..

<<I have been looking to buy a hands free kit and I have not found it with any of the distributors in Dubai...can any body pls help me tio buy one in Saudi Arabia?>>

    hello bhasanjee
yes, thats right, the TW is the 1st and last of its kind of product. it might have had evolved into something pretty interesting, had not handsping intercepted palm with its wonderfull treo range of products. like you, i too am stuck with the tungstenW and i am trying to make the best of it until i get myself the treo650.

now, getting to the point, by hands free kit you probably mean headset - if that is so, your problem is solved - loads of nokia-type headsets fit into the TW and also headsets made to work with the treo range of products also work fine with the TW ( i personally use treo headsets ). my suggestion is, you go to a phone shop and try out headsets. you don't need an original for it to work fine.

<<It feels owners of TW have been disowned by Palm One!>>

palm keeps changing names to use as an excuse not to support users of older devices. and by the way, "palmone" is no more, its back to "palm" again with an orange looking logo. have yet to get used to the colourfullness of the logo.

    ciao

Thank you Headcronie and Xinj for your replies.

Special thanks to Xinj for letting me know that other headsets also wrok. Please let me know which head sets are working with T|W as I tried using a nokia headset n it didnt work.

Do you thing Treo is coming up with a new model soon? As I plan to buy a new mobile with PDA over the next 6 months and till then trying to get most of T|W.

Is there any way in T\W we can put alarms on To Do ? or transfer those to the calender (not manually offcourse)?

    Many thanks for help

    Default tungsten headset

    hi bilal
have a look at this headset jack

i dont exactly know what phone models have it, but this fits exactly into the TW and according to my experience, functions pretty well. like i said, go to a phone shop and ask them to let you try out.
    wish you luck

and as for the new treo, well it'll take a while, that i am sure about. you will be well taken care of with the treo650, its a pretty ultimate palm-smartphone, sadly lacking in built-in wifi, but theres enough you can do with it. just the right toy for a big boy :-)

    Hi Headcronie and XingJ,

    Thanks again for your help.

DateBk 5 is an amazing software...I am sure gonna buy this one. Could you please tell me of more sites where I can download some more useful softwares for my T|W. I am particularly interested in expense management software.

    Regards

The only money management software I use is from Ultrasoft. They link perfectly with Microsoft Money and I have been using them since 1997. www.ultrasoft.com
