Syncing a Tungsten W with Windows 7
I, too am a die-hard Palm Tungsten W user [2002!]. I just got a new computer with Windows 7, and...it won't allow me to hotsynch my Palm. I read a lot about the HP iPAQ 111, and understood that it would sync with my old Palm. I even contacted HP to make sure it would all be compatible with my new Dell. I was assured it would. Unfortunately - no such luck. Plus... I didn't realize that the IPAQ 111 syncs with Outlook. I want my old Palm format back. Any suggestions on how I can sync it with Windows 7?? Palm no longer gives support for the Tungsten W.

Re: Syncing a Tungsten W with Windows 7
You need a 32 bit system for hotsync to work over usb. There are other options to put programs and files on your W than hotsync. Post back with more info.

Re: Syncing a Tungsten W with Windows 7
Thanks for your response. I'm pretty basic with all this - so not sure what other info to post. Windows 7 is a 64 bit system. So, based on what you said, I can't sycn with my new Dell and my old Palm, right? I'd be willing to get a new system if there was a way I could retrieve all my old Palm data and calendar information and download on the new system.

Re: Syncing a Tungsten W with Windows 7
I know that 32 bit XP would be the easiest. If you had 32 bit 7 Professional you could try XP mode out. I have heard that this works for some people. These options would have the best success of working in my humble opinion. If you want to experiment and spend a little money try an IR dongle. IR hotsync may be possible. There are also a couple of ways to go with the palm desktop. You can try the newest one listed that works with your devise. Or you can go with the newest version and use another application that will make it more compatible with that software.
Palm Support : Palm Desktop: all versions
PalmHotSyncSetup will allow legacy devises to work with the palm desktop 6.2

If you can get by without the PIM transfer there are several ways to load programs and files that do not involve hotsync.

Re: Syncing a Tungsten W with Windows 7
page 297 of the manual goes into all hotsync options available at the time 2003, including serial hotsync, if your new PC has a serial port (if not, you could probably get a USB to serial RS-232 converter for not much). wireless is at the end, but is sketchy as to how to setup all the details. IMHO. below is the link for all the info that Palm has on their website for their discontinued models. sorry to be unable to offer more help, but I'm on the run (to work), and have never had the pleasure of using the W.

I have managed with the serial hotsync cable under Win 7, a bit slow but it does work.
