Palm GPS Bundle Holux GR 230/231
Hi,
I was on the Holux site, and I was wondering what they mean with
Dual function (Bluetooth + GPS-mouse) as stated on GR231
Both the GR230/231 have thi statement
"Provide expand terminal and can contact to other system
without bluetooth device.
BUt the GR230 does not state it is a GPS Mouse.
I want the ability to hook it up to my laptop , not just my bluetooth PDA. Can the GR230 be connected to a laptop via USB cable, does it come with the GR230? (I am assuming the Palm bundle is the GR230)
Thanks,
Darrin

sorry - i can't answer your questions about the gps mouse feature. but i can confirm that the gr230 is what comes with the palm navigator bundle. the navigation bundle does come with a usb cable, and the gps receiver has a usb port, though there is nothing in the set up procedure of the receiver that requires use of that cord.

GR230
I have a Holux gr230 and yes you can use it with both your Palm and your PC. I use mine via Bluetooth on both but the mini-USB port will allow you to connect it to your PC. I have done it initially when I got my gr230 over a year ago now.
Hope it helps!Happy T3 owner trying to like his new TX

Thank you so much for answering my question, I've never had a response from the Holux website...
I'm going to order the Palm bundle, but I'd like to try the 230 with my laptop using Microsoft Streets and Trips via cable. (until I have and buy a USB dongle)
After reading the range limits of Bluetooth within the come (like 10 feet even with a class 1 device) I am holding off buying a dongle and wait for a deal on a WI FI card instead.
I just wish palm either built in WI FI or gave us 2 SD slots.

Class 1 does better as its range (on paper) is around 333 feet. I get decent range as i have open spaces and hollow walls. Everyone's mileage will vary but range shouldnt be a problem w/ GPS (as opposed to web surfing, etc.).Originally posted by Darrin
