Default Best Keyboard fro the T3

    Hello

I have owned a T3 for the past year and a bit and now I want a keyboard for it. What keyboard do you guys use and what makes you favour the one you have? I'm looking for one that I can fold-down to a small size so I can carry it around easily.

    Any ideas are very wellcome.

    Kind regards

    Patrick

I use the Palm ultra thin keyboard. It's small, thin and light, making it easy to slide into my briefcase or a jacket pocket. The only drawback is that you can't use the T3 in landscape mode since you can only place the unit vertically.

best keyboard for my money is still the original PPK. Folds down to a nice compact size and gives you a full sized keyboard (4 row) rather than the compact 3 row layout of the Ultrathin. Far better and much more efficient if you find yourself entering a lot of numbers.

if most of your typing is just plain text with very few numbers, then the Ultrathin will probably work just as well for you.

I have owned the original Landware GoType, the Palm Portable Keyboard (PPK), the Palm Ultrathin, and the new PalmOne Universal Wireless. My favorite of all is the PPK for its 4 row layout, full-size keys, stability, and its nice spacebar. The Ultrathin was most disappointing to me as my experience is that the 1) 3 row layout is cumbersome, 2) the keyboard tends to rock if you type hard, 3) the keys are cramped, and 4) the split spacebar is placed so that my right thumb always hits the divider instead of the spacebar. The new Universal corrects #1 and #2 for me, but the cramped keys and spacebar are still a problem for me.

Many people do just fine with the smaller keyboards and either one may work well for you also. If you can try one before you buy, it may help you decide which one is right for you.

    Hello

I have just seen a keyboard with part #P10713U on eBay. Does any of you know if this is the PPK reffered-to above?

    Many thanks

Yes, that is the same keyboard, however it has the older connector that fit the Palm III series, etc. It will not work with the newer Palms. I believe the number for the newer PPK that will fit the T1, T2, and T3 is P10802U.

At risk of being sounding like I'm putting in a shameless plug for my own ad...<ahem>...here's a link to an ad for a Palm Portable Keyboard that I'm selling.

I must agree with the above posters who said that the original Palm keyboard is one of the nicest of the bunch. It has a full number row, and the keys are nicely sized to make touch-typing easy. The disadvantages of this particular model are that it isn't fully rigid, so it needs to rest on a desktop or a book to be used. Also, it isn't quite as compact as the Ultra-thin model, which might be an issue if you're carrying it in a coat pocket.

The new Palm Universal Wireless keyboard also has a number row, so if you don't mind spending a little extra that is another good option to consider.
