Please Help... Problems Tungsten T....
Don't take me wrong. When I wrote the message, I was not able to use change case... In any case, here is the message again. I'm looking for someone to give me a hand with my tungsten T !!!!
I just bought a brand new Tungsten T a week ago. I cannot return it. Unfortunately, it seems that I got too excited because after a week I?m loosing it. My new tungsten T keeps crashing all the time. Here are some of my common problems. I'll really appreciate if anyone out there can help me...
1. Right now it doesn't even let me type my passcode... Just the first 2 numbers and it freezes. Have tried soft resets and nothing happens.
2. When i use the look up feature, it immediately gets crazy, crashes and turns off. It says fatal error. I cannot read the line in this moment because i cannot get to work right now. Since i have the crash software from free palm, it reboots by itself, but it keeps doing it all the time.
3. The digitalizer is not working properly. As i mentioned it, not even to have access because i cannot type my passcode. The same with the scroll bar. Less than 80% of the time i'm able to get it to work properly.
4. I installed graffiti everywhere. It worked for a couple of days and now all i get is whatever I?m trying to input in the screen only 1" to the right of where I?m actually typing. It's like a shadow.
5. I need to uninstall software that is not currently in use. I?m not able to determine what files to choose. I located everything under the palm folder on my pc and now the names don't match, and not all the softwares come with uninstall. I have the appl. Check, but it only works and deletes applications that are unfiled.
6. It keeps turning on and off by itself continuously. It obviously have serious problems. I have it set to turn off after 3 min. But one minute later turns back on? And then off.... Any clues????
This is my first palm and I?m very disappointed. This should not be happening in my first week using this technology. I understand computers, so it's not that i don't know where i am in this field...
Thank you and hope anyone can give a hand!!!!!!!

I didn't even read the original post because it used all caps. If you're asking for help, it behooves you to make it as easy as possible on would-be good samaritans.Never confuse a successful strategy with a smart one.

It sounds like you have several problems with your T and that hardware failures may be part of the problem. The Tungsten|T has suffered from digitizer problems and you appear to have it. Search through the forums here for this topic to get some advice on how to handle it. It may well be that some of the other problems you have are consequences of that problem. It is very hard to tell based on your descriptions. There is a program to test your digitizer, AK Stylus Test, however by the sounds of things you can't even hope to install it.
The problem with crashing on a Find is also well known and is a software problem. Take a look at this thread for more information.
Since you say you cannot return it, it suggests this is an eBay or similar purchase of a used unit and that you don't have any kind of warranty. If so, you may be out of luck in the long run. Sorry.Never confuse a successful strategy with a smart one.

Doesn't turn off... Tungsten T
Thank you for your prompt reply, Patrick. I tried what you recommended me and downloaded all the programs you told me. Still don?t know if it?s going to work. My other problem now is that I cannot get the Palm to turn off. I press the on/off button and it? impossible to turn it off. Even when I lock it. It remains off for a couple of seconds and it turns back on right after that. Is there anything that you may know about this? I had to do a hard reset and then I was able to turn it off. The digitizer is now working a better. With the Tester it keeps telling me that it crashes because of appl doc. I decided to remove this but still gives me the same message. Now I?m thinking of uninstall everything. Please advise me? I will appreciate it?.

If I were you I would perform a hard reset and check that the Palm is working properly. If it is behaving then start to re-install applications one by one and re-test the Palm to ensure that things are still okay. When you get to an application that causes problems then you could either simply uninstall it or post a question here about it (or both). It might be a slow process but it might also be the best way to see if your Palm is faulty or if it is a software issue.

Re: Doesn't turn off... Tungsten T
My Tungsten|T also has this problem. I believe dirt gets under the rocker switch, eventually rendering the switch unusable. If you look at the T3, you'll see that Palm redesigned the switch so that it is harder for dirt to ingress (they also made the switch much too difficult to press in the process, but that's another story...).Originally posted by PETETEGPS

Diagnosing your problems is difficult because there appears to be many of them and it is unclear from your descriptions what might be hardware and what might be software problems (e.g., I have no idea what this means: "With the Tester it keeps telling me that it crashes because of appl doc.").
I think you should listen to what WolfUK has suggested and try to narrrow down the issues for us. Do a hard reset and test the machine with no additional software at all. Tell us what problems you have. Then try the digitizer test program and report on that. Gradually build up to your full application suite. I don't think the process will be as onerous as it sounds because you'll find some of the problems early. No doubt many of them are software issues, but without us knowing the full suite of applications you are loading, diagnosis is near impossible.Never confuse a successful strategy with a smart one.
