Question Voice Memo button as Back button?

Is there a way to make the Voice Memo button emulate the back button on a Clie?

I know about BackDA, but the Button Pref can't launch DAs directly.

I'm hoping that the combination of OKey and BackDA can let me use the TT without ever pulling out the stylus except for text inputs.

FlexButton allows you to map the Voice Memo button to the Back button, but I don't think the T3 has the necessary libraries to understand it. Alternatively, FlexButton, can map the Voice Memo button to a DA, which might enable BackDA, which I'm unfamiliar with (but searching for it now )

Well, just tried BackDA w/FlexButton which works exactly the same as just choosing "Back Button" within FlexButton, as in, it doesn't work. While BackDA and FlexButton properly send the equivalent of a back button press to the Palm OS, because of the lack of Jog libraries that come with a Clie, it is not interpreted at all. To get this working, I reckon you need some of the libraries off of a Clie's ROM. I do agree that it would be fantastic functionality though!

Check Out QLaunch. You can find it on Palmgear. You have choice of changing buttons. You can change the voice to "back"

I already use QLaunch. It can't emulate the Back button by itself on the TT, I have to use QLuanch to invoke BackDA to do that.

I guess you're right. BackDA on TT doesn't do anything on a lot of apps, but I think I encountered a few where it does do something.

Apps that worked: iSilo, AvantGo, HandStory, Contacts 5, TAKEphONE, WorldMate (worked as Quit), McPhling (closes the MRU menu), OKey (quits OKey mode), PalmWiki.

Apps didn't work: All built-in apps, Agendus, Vindigo, SpashID, Plucker, Progect.

As you can see, it still can be useful in many apps (though not quite as universal as you and I would like). But as I mentioned in my first post, I plan to use it with OKey. The idea is that

    1) When using BackDA + OKey together, I can use OKey to navigate to the desired UI button if the app doesn't support BackDA.

    2) it's impossible to exit OKey mode if OKey is used on a handheld without a back button, making OKey as useless as it's useful. With BackDA, I can use OKey as it was designed to (i.e. for a handheld with Back button).

Try it with OKey sometimes, and see if you can get better mileage out of both of them. I'll try out FlexButton myself.

Gotta love those Japanese Palm utilities. They are awesome.

    Thanks for the link.......

I tried PalmGear and Handango before asking, I'll try Google next time.

Does BackDA work in WebPro to go back to the previous page?

Since Web Pro can't run on a Clie, I doubt BackDA nor the real Back Button can do anything.... You can try it though. I'll test it on Web Pro 1.02 (I have a TT) and PocketLink later today.

I suspect that NetFront broswer will work with the Back button (since it's developed in Japan, where Clie rules). If you can get a way to run NetFront on PalmOne devices or if you can get a copy of PalmSource Web Broswer 2.0 (which is also powered by NetFront), then more power to you.
