    Default T-3 issues resolved?

Okay, I tried a T3 when it first came out. I liked the unit but was having problems with a VERY dim screen. I went into Best Buy one afternoon and compared it to a T/E.

My T3 on full bright was equal to the T/E on 1/5th lowest setting. I wound up returning the T3 and got a T/E. The only problem there was that the T/E had a yellow tint in the middle of the screen with a wierd white halo in the middle of the yellow tint.
Needless to say it too went back.

So I took a BRIEF venture over to Pocket PC. Some cool feaures but when you've had 320x320 resolution..........Anyhow. I was in Circut City and have the itch to come back to Palm. Question is T3 or TE.

I won't use the bluetooth, the landscape mode is helpful but I remember that the screen and battery life kinda sucked.
Does anyone know if these issues have been addressed and/or resolved? I really would like a T3 but it looks as if I might be headed back to a T/E

    Thanks
    Mike

For me, the deciding factor was the bluetooth. But if you're not going to use that..... Also, the extra memory is something to consider. The 64 megs on the T3 is absolutely absurd. I've loaded tons of programs to try out on there and I've still got some ridiculous amount of free space left. Battery life is so-so. I just recharge overnight and I'm ok.

There appear to be screen problems with some units and colour is an issue with some as well (maybe the same ones). The trick is to try it and see. My screen is beautiful and very bright as are most.

As for battery life - not good. Okay for a trip to the store but if it's going to be on all the time away from a charger you'll get 3-4 hours (estimated).

Other than the battery it's a great PDA.

Would you say the battery life is worse, better, or equal to a Tungsten C (not using wifi). I bought the T3 and plan on using bluetooth occasionally to check email and other than that I play games for a couple of hours a day tops. I figured since it wasnt wifi, the T3 would be a lot better than the C. Any comments?

I got my T3 a few weeks ago and the screen is excellent. All other problems seem to be taken care of by software updates.

Battery life does seem to be about 4h although I rarely hit that point. I have a cradle at home, a USB/charger cable at work, and if I had issues I'd just pick up a car charger or dig up my 9V univerisal connector adapter.

I just don't find myself using my PDA for 4 hours during a normal day, so the charge lasts me fine.

My husband has a C and his battery life is WAY better! Especially when you aren't using Wifi. That Tungsten C has a bigger batter than the T3 does. I don't remember the exact numbers but you could find it on PalmOne's website.

That makes sense, larger battery for wifi. That sucks though, I mean on a normal day I never go under 40% left or so on the battery meter, but just the thought of possibly using up the battery bothers me. I guess i'll have to deal.

If the battery life is an issue, you may want to pick up a Palm Power to Go sled. It charges the unit 2-2/12 times from a single charge. That, combined with my Boxwave mini charge/sync cable and wall and car chargers have made the T3 battery life a non-issue for me.

Or you can use my solution for extending battery life... Get PXAClocker and under-clock most of your apps that don't need the full 400MHz. PXAClocker holds a list of the apps on your T3, and you just tell it which ones to run at which speed. Some games require full speed to run right, but most apps are fine at 100 or 200 MHz. I get over 6 hours of battery life (I also run my T3 at minimum brightness unless it's outdoors and sunny).

I use pxa clocker and I still can drain about 50% of my battrey after about 30 minutes of mp3 playback combined with viewing AvantGo (in conjunction with the IR keyboard)
Visor to M515 to T3 to T3.5 to TX (now a paperweight) to Treo 650 (another paperweight) to Treo 680 to Blackberry Curve 8900 to Blackberry Bold 9700.
