Unhappy T3 Won't Turn On ... SUDS? [Sudden USB Death Syndrome]

Hi, Folks. Thought I was just happily coasting along with my beloved T3. Survived the SD card scare with only 2-3 fried cards; now happy after the fix.

Tonight, when I got home, went to connect my T3 to my laptop to sync ... BOOM. It flashed on ... then nothing. Won't turn on, won't soft reset, won't hard reset.

I did a bit of research on these boards and found something called 'SUDS' -- but saw that it was mostly referring to M500's ...? Could it apply to the T3 as well?

Anyway, was wondering if anyone has had this experience, survived it, and maybe has any suggestions.

If I have to send it back to PalmOne for circuitry reset, well ... guess I'll have to rely solely on my Sony Clie UX-50, which is still working swell.

    Discouraged and frustrated.

    Hello samnjoe.

The electrostatic discharge issue, also called SUDS, is limited to the m500 series handhelds.

If you are unable to revive the Tungsten T3 with a soft or hard reset, then I would contact the palmOne support center and inquire about having the unit serviced.

Talking My T3's Back and There's Gonna Be a Celebration!

Thought I'd deliver a follow-up for those who might experience the same thing.

Left the thing alone for 11 days. Thought maybe it would run the battery down, and forget that it had experienced problems. ;-) And that, once I attempted to charge it again, it might pretend it was actually a brand new out-of-the-box T3.

    Well.

That might be what happened! I don't know. I plugged it into the charger. It flickered, and went on a vacation.

I went to the PalmOne site. Read up a bit on 'what to do if your handheld won't turn on.' Saw something about 'soft reset.' Soft reset TWICE. (Twice? Why?)

    Did it.

BAMM!!! My T3 has been resurrected from the DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was last night. As of today, all's well!!!!

(BTW, one shameless plug for 'BackUpMan.' All I had to do was restore from my SD Card!)

My T3 is back! My T3 is back! Love my Sony Clie UX50 ... ... ... but the screen is so ... small ...
