Question What is a good Backup up utility for T3\ Palm OS 5?

What is a good Backup up utility for T3\ Palm OS 5?

I am new to the Palm world.

I need a backup utility that will backup everything on memory...settings, application serial numbers, etc.. That is if I lost everything, i would not have to change any settings or add serial numbers with a full restore.

I am concerned that Backup Buddy does not support OS5 ... what does that mean?

Try Backup Man. You can find it at this site. Works perfectly with OS5.

Right Back Up from www.standalone.com seems to run well on my T3. I had backup man but it did not run properly on the T3

    Default Backup Utility

    dolfin,

There seems to be differing views on BackupMan. I've been using it, and my back-ups have proceeded smoothly. Of course the real deal is an accurate restore which I have not had to do. Have you tried a restore with BackupMan?

The backups with backup man were hit or miss. I had it set to autobackup at 2am every day. Some times it was successful and some times unsuccessful. With Right Back up it backs up properly. I have been using it for autobackup daily and have restored from it twice when I first installed it. I did it as a test. According to the developer it is T3 compliant. It seems to be a simple, reliable program.

Dolphin is right about Backupman, but Rightbackup is having problems with my T3 too, the only difference is that it generates a backup file even if it had backed up 100k of the total memory. I tried PXA clocker to slow down everything but the problem with SD backup still bothering me...

    Question

I've never used a backup utility... I simply do a hotsync every night (often 2-3x a day since I use the desktop). I'm wondering if there is some advantage to using these utililties over doing regular hotsync (other than the obvious do-it-anywhere advantage.)

Default Reason for backup to card

There are 2 reasons I went to backup to card. 1 - in the past, I found that the hotsync did not backup "everything" in memory, while the card backup did. Hotsync restore did not bring back many of my programs. 2- can perform a backup when you are not able to do hotsync, in particular when traveling. I use Backupman to backup every 12 hours. You can set it to backup even more frequently. Maybe you are doing a certain type of work on your palm and you want frequent backups to avoid losing any work.

Anyone successful using a backup program after reinserting G1 files? I have had failures during restore after installing G1 files on my T/C. I couldn't even get the files to backup without a soft reset on my T3 (since I put the G1 files back on).
Are the G1 files causing the problem or do you think it might be some other 3rd party app?
