Default Palm Portable Keyboard: Help Please

So I have a TT, just bought a 'used' Palm Portable Keyboard. According to several sites, including Palm's, my TT will work with the keyboard. Makes sense because the keyboard is compatible with 500 series. However before I break the keyboard, or worse my TT, I don't think my TT is fitting into the bracket that attaches the the Universal Connector/Hotsync area. I've tried pushing it in pretty hard but perhaps there is something I'm missing. I've read the instructions and have the built in stand out in the correct position for the TT. I used to have the same keyboard for a Prism so I have a general idea how they work and their tendency to be difficult to attach the palm device to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Default keyboard type?

You may want to check on exactly what type of PPK it is, since i seem to remember that there were different versions for earlier palms that won't work with newer hardware.

    I think there's the

First PPK: compatible with the III-series palms, handera330

Second PPK: compatible with m-series, i705 and Tungstens

    UT PPK: the newest one.

I'm don't think there was any other palm compatible versions. The thinkoutside site doesn't even really list the first PPK.

    Hope this helps.

I am using my old 505 keyboard without problems - it should attach as nicely as the 505 did.

But you will need a TT driver: version 1.9.6T works with the 505 and the new slimline keynoard.

I'm using the keyboard that I used with my m515 and apart from the non-functioning delete key it is fine. However, I did have a lot of trouble getting it to work! I had to uninstall the driver for the m515 and to do that I had to do a warm reset first. Then I installed the updated driver and it worked fine. It didnt work when I just tried to install the updated driver over top of the old one though.

Sorry, I have the PPK (not the UT). Anyway to tell if it's the first or second series (serial number, etc.)? Thanks.

No serial number on mine as far as I can see.

If you cannot get the plug to attach to the TT, you got the wrong one. It should attach smoothly (no click), and the TT should then switch on. If you got the wrong driver, the TT will try to hotsync: do the warm reset described in the previous message and delete the driver; then download the one I mention above.

If you got the one made for a III/V series: There used to be a converter that allowed it to be attached to the 500 series.

    Default ppk

If it doesn't connect easily (there should be a firm click but that's it), it's probably not the right keyboard. It's most likely an older model.

I'd say try to return it, although since it's used that may be difficult.

If the person/store sold it to you under the pretense that it was compatible, then they should give you your money back, or let you exchange it for the right one.

    Default Keyboard

I use the same keyboard for my T as I did for my 515.

As with the 515 I find that when attaching the palm to the keyboard I have to lean the PAlm forward ( back to me) a little bit to get it to hook onto the side claws on the connector. I have always found that removal is also easier if I just lean it forward a bit. It's those little side claws that have to catch that are the trick I find.

They are the two little goldie coloured pieces that have a bit of a curve to them.

If I do that I find it goes pretty easily. As has been said above, I did have to when I got the T, delete and re-install drivers.

If you know anyone with a Palm V (or III), you might want to check it that fits - if so, you'd better return it.

Maybe you can take it into Frys or CompUSA or some other store and check with all the display models to see which fits.
