I am on a Mac running PalmDesktop 4.0 under OS/X 10.2.5. Wouldn't the Install conduit in PalmDesktop be the only install I need? If not, why, what does PilotInstall do? Also, what would be the equivalent of PilotInstall for the Macintosh?

There is also an install to card conduit. Pilot Install overides the Palm install, bypasses having to sync all the files during a hotsync, allows you to only install the apps that you want, its quicker.

    Eeewww................I'm a dumby on a Mac

    Gulmatan,

I may have experienced the same frustrations as you have in loading backimages. I'm using an iMac w/OS X.1.5. And in the beginning, all I managed to get consistently was an error message when selecting an image to apply as my back image.

At first, I tried to export my .jpgs from iPhoto - I reshaped the images so that they were square (using the square crop). Then, using the export function, I resized the images to 320 x 320.

After exporting to, let's say Desktop, the image, while 320 x 320, is still a .jpg. No problem, so I thought, and manually changed the extension to .bmp. Then I transferred the .bmp using my card reader into the PROGRAM/ZLauncher/Backimage file.

However, once I tried to load the file as my backimage, I always received the same error message.

Finally, I thought that perhaps just renaming the .jpg extension to .bmp messed something up. So, using the PhotoBase app included with your T/T, I 'added' the image (from the 320 x 320 .jpg processed from iPhoto), and then exported/save as the image into .bmp. In other words, I let the app reconfigure the image from .jpg to .bmp.

Voila! Once I installed on the card, I was able to apply the file as a back image. Unfortunately, the extra step (Photobase) is needed since iPhoto doesn't appear to allow saving as .bmp.

    Hope this lends some insight.

    Default Rename file.bmp to file.PDB

    Hi ,
First thank Mistrfree for back image .
I use Norton Commander to rename a bitmap file (.Bmp) to PDB file so can sync into Palm by Palm Desktop .
Fist use edit file (F4) then from popup menu chose "save as " then just rename the file with extended .PDB .
After syncing to Palm you must change to .BMP by Zlauncher File Manager :
choose file.PDB then chose Info command to open Information of this file . You can change the extended from .PDB to .BMP
I think there are a lot Utility programe like Norton Commander can do the same but I know only this NC.( My NC is old Version for Window95 )
Anyone post the same clue for make a .prc file
    Thanks

    HEAR YE!! HEAR YE!!

The mysteryhas been solved. After I installed PhotoBase, that cured the problem. After I let photoBase do its thing, I nigrated the transfused bitmap to the BackImage folder and, as SingSong said, VOILLA!! It worked. Thanks SingSong.

Furthermore, I noticed something else. Either as a result of my previous attempts or the PhotoBase sync, I discovered that the photos/bitmaps I was using were installed in the Palm/DCIM directory of the SD card. So, those photos were either put threr from the previous attempts or the PhotpoBase sync is anyone's guess. Bonus question, does anyone know how those files got put in the DCIM directory of the SD card?

Anyway, after I moved the files from the DCIM folder to ZLauncher's BackImage directory, I'm a happy camper.

Many appologies for putting up with my frustration. Many thanks for your efforts in helping me iron this out.

    Thanks again

    Matt A.
