Assuming that your Palm Desktop software is functioning properly, you shouldn't have this kind of problem installing software. I am sure that you have installed many apps in the past, the same processes apply here. If you have read EVERYTHING at www.launchplug.com you should have found anwers there.

Maybe you can try this link and find some more help.

    Hope this helps

After I convert the file, it then is a .bmp 320-by-320 pixel file--that's okay. But, here's where it junks up: if I try and put this .bmp file into the Palm Install, I'm warned that "This is not a valid Palm file" thus, it does not get installed. On the next attempt, I can put this file into the Palm Install and Palm overrides and puts it in the SDcard pile--that's still right, isn't it?. After it gets installed successfully and I re-route the file with TealMover into the proper directory (ZLauncher\BackImages) , ZLauncher's Theme Manager does not see it. Why?

when you "re-route" the file using TealMover, is the file still in ***.bmp format? Or has the file been converted to a .pdb or .prc file format?

It's late in the game, but here's my screenshot. I really like LauncherX, just got it a couple of days ago. Didn't care for ZLauncher or SilverScreen nearly as much.

To answer the question, yes, I leave it in the original BMP (Windows Bitmap) format. If I am supposed to convert it further to PDB or PRC, that's what I need info on. What do I need to do for that step, if need be?

Oh, and before anyone asks, AeroPlayer has a funny icon because I changed it in SilverScreen while playing around, then deleted SilverScreen thinking the icon would revert back, but it seems I'm stuck with it now. Hee hee.

    Matt:

No, you shouldnt convert it from anything. Just leave it in the .bmp format. ZLauncher recognizes bmp files, and some files are preformatted to a prc file for ZLauncher but I personally don't know how to convert them from bmp to a palm format. Make sure also tha tyou are installing the bmp files to you /Palm/programs/ZLauncher/BackImage directory.
Just check in ZLauncher file manager "Info" to make sure that Palm Desktop hasn't changed it from ***.bmp to something like a ***_bmp.prc I have noticed this happening sometimes with Palm desktop software. I personally recommend using PilotInstall. With PI you can specifically designate the Card install directory that you wish to install your files to.

I'm like you................its not supposed to be this hard to do.

I just use a card reader to transfer my skinning/theming files. My card reader is invaluable, how else would I get large files to my SD card. But, for backgrounds and such, I just do it that way.
