    Default Instructions for replacing digitizer

I have a replacement glass digitizer for my T3 on the way from Used Pda Parts.com, and I need instructions on how to replace it - I searched with no results. TIA (JRakes, RU reading this?)
    Regards,
    Bob (RGS)

Tools you'll need: Very big hammer and cold chisel.

It really isn't that difficult if you're accustomed to working with such electronic devices.

For the T3, you'll need a very small (jeweler's) phillips screwdriver, a couple of bent paper-clips, good vision, some patience, and steady hands. If you're accustomed to working on fairly small electronic devices, it's a piece of cake!

Let me know if you need any other info. I'm "in and out" this weekend, but will be more than happy to assist as I can.

    Best of luck with it!

Nice links, JB. Hadn't seen those.

Every time I see take apart instructions I shudder and make sure Shawn's contact info is still on my Palm.

I suppose it's a little daunting if you're not accustomed to working on electronic devices. But it you are accustomed to such things, it's really very simple. There's not much to it... Hookette could possibly learn something there!

For me, it's the size thing. I've built a computer and I slap parts in and out all the time on both desktops and laptops. But my hands are not steady and I have some small but real motor control challenges. At PDA scale, too many things can go wrong.

ArGiEs, you may want to take a look at this thread, there is a description of my prefered method to remove a digitizer.

Be sure to choose a very clean and dust-free location to replace the digitizer, otherwise you may end up with dust between screen and digitizer.

Check this thread for a pic showing the digitizer being lifted.

I was out very busy and out-of-range to reply from my BB, so when I got home I almost fell over Thanks for all the links, everyone! This'll keep me busy tomorrow afternoon.

Well, JRakes, I will be accustomed to it, at least by the time I'm done with the T3--I'm also replacing the battery as well. Got a good link on that job already

If you're into it for the screen, I'd certainly replace the battery unless it's been recently replaced already. Just be careful getting it loose with the double-sided tape. While everything is apart, it's also a good time to tighten the slider if you prefer - There are several recommendations for that, although I don't have any links handy. I bent the "side rails" in ever so slightly and carefully...

I'm glad you stopped by here, Raspy! I think I got half the stuff I mentioned from you! Your additional info will certainly be of help to Bob as he dives into his project.

As for Pirate-Boy ^up there^ ( ) : I find that my reading glasses and a wrist-rest help. Along with good lighting. And a comfy seat. And some soothing music. And...

Best of luck, Bob! Please let us know how it goes...
