Tungsten won't turn off, won't turn on

My Tungsten T won't turn off when I use the power button, or by automatic shut-off, until the battery runs completely out of charge (after an hour or so). Then it won't turn on again unless I put it back in the cradle. I've tried a soft, hard, and cradle reset, and have tried charging the battery overnight in the cradle, to no avail. All functions and apps seem to work fine while it's in the cradle, or while still stuck in power-on mode, but once it's off, it can't be revived unless put back in the cradle. What's up?

Hmm if i remember correctly you can set the Tungsten T to turn on or Off using the slider. Try setting the tunsten to turn on when you open the slider and off when you close the slider. If that doesnt work try this http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/audodo.shtml or similar software to fix the problem.

Also something may be wrong with the battery.

Thanks for the tips, fazz33; it was worth a shot. The download was successful, but the power won't turn off even when assigned to a hard button as the download allows.
I'm guessing I'll need to replace the battery.

Just as a last ditch suggestion have you tried opening it up to see if there are any loose wires or damage inside the case? (dont recommend unless you really want to) Also I think its the battery however it may also be circuitary accociated with it. But if all else fails you should let a pro look at it ^_^ heh my guesses could be wrong.

Before despairing, try an in-cradle reset. Make sure your palm is receiving charge in the cradle, soft-reset it by poking the hole in the back and then leave it alone for a good 3-4 hours without fiddling with it. This can help to reset the battery preferences.
