Just curious...
Is there anyone here who is an employee, manager, officer, or stock holder of Palm One? Or otherwise financially interested in the company?
I understand that this site is not controlled or managed by Palm One itself, but that does not mean that none of the members here are not financially interersted in or affiliated with Palm.
Since members here do express their opinions on the efficacies of T/E or other Palm products, I thought it might be helpful, and honorable, for such members to identify themselves. Of course, they are under no obligation that I know of to do so.
I find it hard to believe that a company like Palm does not monitor a site like this. If it really doesn't, what does that say about the company's attitude toward customer satisfaction?
If it does monitor this site, but does not actively participate in it, I think also that it is perfectly understandable that such "moniotor" wishes not to be identified. However, to the extent that such a person actively participates and expresses OPINIONS on the product, I believe that it is ...not necessary, but honorable.. to identify one's personal interest or bias...

My experience is that people who are heavily connected to Palm tend to get swamped as soon as they admit to such a thing. That's why most of them (if they're here at all :-) keep quiet.

That is understandable, but...
Ben. Of course that would be completely true. That is a good reason why employees of a Palm might not want to identify themselves as such in a forum like this. However, to the extent that they might offer an "opinion" regarding Palm products in a forum like this (rather than dissemination of facts), I just think it would be disingenuous for them to do so without first identifying their financial interest...
Of course, the same logic applies to people who have share in PalmOne's stocks or profits... even though they have less reasons to remain silent about their financial interest than the employees since they may not be "swamped" with emails as much.
Whenever I see "customer evaluation" of products on the net, I wonder how many of them are self-serving. Perhaps I am being a bit more paranoid than necessary. But as they say, just because you are paranoid, it doesn't mean that they are not watching.

Ben, your penguin makes me think that you are a Linux guy. Am I right?
It is also interesting to note that there is a link to this forum on the palmOne website.
I agree about palmOne employees keeping quiet as so many people here have had a disastrous experience with their telephone technical support.

We actually have someone from palmOne on-board; her name is Heather Cullen and I am sure we all wellcome her here. Will be interesting to see how much she can/is allowed to tell us about the future of palmOne's PDA lines.
