How long is a piece of string?!?

But seriously, there are millions of types of headphones out there. Start with what type you like - big earpieces, in the ear, earplugs, headband, no headband, folding, fixed????????

Give us a bit of a clue and we might be able to recommend.

I can't recommend a specific one, but you might want to get headphones with a volume control on them. Although I don't really mind, some people complain that the T|E is actually too loud (i.e. at 20% it's blasting. I don't understand why they just don't turn it down further though )

Meh, I never even had a CD player so I don't know what I like. It really doesn't matter, but all I know is I want something that the band goes on the back of your head since I gel my hair. I don't want it messing my hair up.

Well I've only seen one pair where they got round the back of your head and then loop over your ears, and they were Sony. I don't have that particular pair but I've owed 3 different sets of Sony headphones and they've all been great. Nice bright clear sound, bass boost in most cases and reasonably priced.

I'd go for a low to mid priced set to start with (about $30) and see how you get on. If you decide you want something better later on you can spend more then.

Thirty dollars? You can get a cheap pair for under 3!

Seriously though, I'd say start with the cheap, "disposeable" kind, and feel them out to see what you'd like out of a pair of headphones. Then go purchase the more expensive kind.

They also sell clip-on headphones (not to be confused with in the ear headphones) so there is no band at all. Here are some clip on headphones. I cannot vouch for that particular model though. It sounds like it would be uncomfortable (headphones hanging onto your ears) but they actually are pretty comfy.

I'd recommend a Sony pair of Street Style headphones, like these. I have a pair without the in-cord volume control, and I love them because they don't mess with my glasses - however, you can't lay down or rest your head because they stick out a bit at the back.

You can, but I believe that you pay for what you get. Really cheap headphones generally sound rubbish, and without decent filters on them, if you play them too loud, you can cause hearing problems later in life. Money is all relative. I happen to think that $20-30 is a fairly average price to pay for a pair of headphones.

I was trying to stress that it's not necessary to go out and pay $100 for a set of headphones to use with a PDA as the sound quality is not entirely hi-fi standard!
