    Default Calendar data erased

I have used a Palm TX tungsten PDA for six years or so. I have noticed that my historical diary data - diary entries prior to a few months ago - have disappeared. How can this have happened? Is there anything I can do about it?

I read on this forum about switching the .dat file with the .bak file. If that does not work, is there any other recourse? Is the data gone forever?

I have a very similar problem- all calendar data has disappeared- I need to rebuild. Will be following up on PIMLICO's DBSCAN and DBFIXIT.

DBSCAN and DBFIXIT run on your device. You can also check for corruption on the desktop from Palm Desktop.

Did you notice this after a hotsync?

It is possible you have selected to archive, (purge). Via the Calendar tool bar review the setting for PURGE. If set then on hotsync the items older than the option selected are then archived and can be retrieved via the Palm desktop by selecting the archive date file and restoring the selected items.

In Palm Desktop, there is an option to "check for corruption". I can't remember that clearly because it's been a long time since I've done it. But part of the ritual of checking for corruption is to OVERWRITE the other device. If dbscan fixes things on your device, you would overwrite the desktop on the next hotsync. If you were to find and fix corrupted data in Palm desktop, you would need to overwrite your handheld on the next sync. If you don't overwrite on the next sync, often the corrupted data (typically "deleted records") just comes right back.

I found more here but I've yet to find that obscure menu item that actually checks for corrupted records on the desktop.

    Ok, found it here...

Palm Desktop database repair You can also check for any database corruption in the Palm Desktop. Go into Tools menu, select Options. In the dialog box, select the Tools tab. At the bottom next to ‘Check and repair any corrupted records’, click on the Check Now button. Don’t forget to check ‘Remove All Deleted Records’ as well so that if it does find the errors that they will get deleted. Usually, when you get DmWrite errors, it’s related to the PIM databases and records so try using this and the dbscan and see if they fix the problem.
It was probably posted here at BH numerous times as well but google found it over there (palm discovery) first.
