In that case, only one suggestion:

hard reset and clean install ...

I actually did just that only a few weeks ago!

These files return after hard reset and are subsequently populated through registration entries, WiFi setup, and application use. It is possible to edit preferences in FileZ or in a text editor on your computer but you need to know exactly what you are looking for. It may be less painful and scary to reset the preferences.

Some of us have been known to copy these files to SD (separate from backups) to pop back in a clean, working version when a corruption occurs. <Yes, another housekeeping step and I have not read of any macro or automation.> Perhaps you use Resco Backup, have a backup set from just before this started, and could try a selected restore?

DT, can I simply delete all the saved and unsaved preferences and then go back into every program and re-configure as I like? I do use RBackup, but unfortunately, my backups only go back several days and I don't have any versions that would not cause this problem.

Edit: I just tried clearing out the Saved and Unsaved preferences in Resco Explorer without deleting the files themselves. Didn't help.

Edit 2: I actually deleted both Saved and Unsaved preferences and that seemed to do the trick. I'll have to re-enter my settings on apps, but that's still a heckuva lot better than hard-resetting and re-installing everything one by one.
