Blimey, and there's me thinking there might be a concensus!

I might just have to play around - as I think of it now, it might have well been the case that I was just trying to reformat some inappropriate (no not like that!) documents that were either too big or scanned pages.

Either way, the PDA does seem like in the end it will offer a valid way of reading eBooks/PDFs on the move.

Now it's just to crack the problem of transferring videos..

(You can expect a new thread after I've solved this problem first!)

Thanks again for all your help, Schnide

umm bad platform to start with! the CPU in TE is too slow to view any native PDF document properly. i tired all the PDF software available for TE and i come to a conclusion that doctogo v8 is the best!

Picsel Proviewer blows the socks off Documents To Go 8 on a TE. UDMH required of course.

I also beg to differ on your statement that the TE is a bad platform to begin with. The TE is very capable of running every application I have come across.

*whacks donbes upside the head* You don't go with text, when the only document your boss just distributed a .pdf file by email. You use what you are given. You won't always be by a computer to change a .pdf into txt, doc.. etc.

How well does PalmPDF work with a T E|2?

    Is something like UDMH necessary?

It's not necessary, but it allows you to open much larger documents, without decreasing image quality, or changing to greyscale, or b/w mode.

For those interested, I've since made sure that I'm only trying to convert files that are text in the first place, and have been using PalmPDF to convert them into PalmDOC format then read using eReader.

I particularly like the autoscroll function, and might consider paying for the upgrade when that option runs out on the free trial.

This method either doesn't seem to convert properly with PalmPDF or display properly on eReader (for instance with eReader, squares are displayed during paragraph breaks whereas not in Docs2Go) but either way this is considerably easier than trying to read them in PDF format and allows me to read the documents on the move as originally intended.

    I'm a PDA convert!

    Thanks again, schnide

Welcome to Brighthand, Schnide. The autoscroll function of eReader continues to function once it reverts to the freeware version.
