Default Draining TE2 power without waiting 7 days

It seems like there have been a number of people expressing problems lately with batteries and power-management issues. As I understand it, to totally resolve some problems, you need to leave the PDA sitting for over a week for every last little bit of juice to fully discharge.

This thread at 1src will be of interest to those dealing with this problem:

Apparently, unlike the TE, the TE2's battery connections to the motherboard are NOT soldered! You can disconnect and reconnect! At least that was the case for the individual who posted the message. Has anyone here opened up a TE2?

I have opened up my TE2 and can say that it is not soldered. It is a little white electronic connector.

I'm the one who posted my experience on several other forums. I should have taken a picture while I had the E2 open. The plastic connector pops right off the motherboard with needle nose pliers or tweezers. It brought my prematurely deceased E2 (only 2 weeks old) back to life!

My only other word of advice for those still under warranty is to use a plastic device to pry the cover off, so you don't scratch it and leave obvious proof of having opened it.

And one more thing; once you get the cover off, the top plate which includes the power button will essentially fall out of place. Be careful not to lose the power button because it isn't really connected to the top plate. It just sort of slides into place.

    Happy tinkering...
