Default TE will not stay on

My Tungsten E will not stay on. I have charged via usb, ac, and external battery pack. Tried soft and hard resets. Replaced the battery and left it to charge. I still is doing the same thing. If you use the reset hole in in back and press power it will come on for a few seconds but then it shuts of. Help it is driving me nuts.

    Welcome to Brighthand k_cuffo(at)yahoo.com.

Have you tried an "in cradle" reset to recalibrate the battery? Plug in the charger and press the reset button. Leave alone for 4 hours.

    Good luck.

So you mean just press the pin hole reset and don't power it on first? I'll give it a try.

Hi k_cuffo and welcome to Brighthand.

Yes, just press the hole in the back, but first make certain that the charger is plugged in. The circuits that control/document battery power will be reset in such a circumstance.

Off track, just a short suggestion that might be helpful for you. You may have noticed that Dick Tracy didn't copy your Brighthand user name verbatim, but rather put the "[at]" in the middle. At one time, for forums and the like, many people would show their email addresses in a web page. The problem is that spammers use automated software that scans web pages looking for text that appears to be a valid email address, and if they see the @ symbol surrounded by text, that's usually a good one!

You might want to consider deleting your two previous posts if you can and re-registering with a different user name, because you might start receiving a lot of spam. We certainly wouldn't want that to be what you get out of participating on Brighthand!

...or he/she might want to ask the moderators to change the username to something else, if that's possible in the first place.

    Hello k_cuffo,

If I were you I would try one more hard reset. Make absolutely sure you are getting the prompt to erase all data, and make absolutely sure you hit the up button on the 5 way navigator to do the wipe. Then let it charge for a while and see if it works. If it does not then there is probably a hardware issue with it. Being that it is a T|E it is probably out of warranty, but Palm has been known to fix devices out of warranty for a repair fee.

I'm wondering if it is even a battery problem at all. Thinking back when I removed the battery I pierced it with a screwdriver and created a nice spark. Then the person doing the sodering got a smallshock and burn vrom the battery. So could it be something else? if so can it be fixed?
