Re: Colors reversed on E2
On earlier NVFS devices there was the option to do a zero-out reset.
Starting E2 this is not available anymore as an option. It's hard reset and all is gone (or should be ...).
With T5 and Treo650 a hard reset does not always clean all the memory. But the zero-out reset does.
For me this is a BUG in the T|E2 since in some cases you do NOT have the possibility anymore to clear the memory on purpose (a hard reset on E2 seems to leave some traces of code in memory ...sometimes resulting in your device being turned into an expensive paperweight due to the locked code).
So after the resurrection of your device, do NOT install programs which are not intended for E2 or you might be in big trouble !Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001

Thanks, holvoetn, for the explanation!
As to programs, I guess the game PilotLines, which I received as a free perk from a software company for buying one of their products, is the main suspect. It continually forced me to do soft resets.

Re: Colors reversed on E2
Well, it's been eight days or so of letting the battery drain, and I anxiously recharged my E2 and...no success. The colors are still corrupted.
However, what seems to have happened is that the battery drain didn't wipe out the memory -- and didn't force any type of hard reset at all. Almost everything was still there (except for the date and time setting). This is, in a sense, a real triumph of non-volatile memory -- little lost even after draining the battery till the E2 wouldn't start, and then waiting eight more days. That's sort of exciting in a way. However, this whole problem is also annoying -- since, as holvoetn pointed out, if Palm had included a procedure for a 1zero-out hard reset, one wouldn't have to try these battery draining tricks.
I guess it's time to dig out my Office Depot product protection form and see what I am supposed to do. Or was I supposed to drain the battery after first doing a hard reset? Or remove the SD card? Well, I don't have the patience to do another week-long battery drain.
Sigh.

Re: Colors reversed on E2
I agree, send it in.
This is clearly something which would require a zero-out reset, but since that option is not available anymore, there is no alternative but having it 'repaired' externally.Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001
