E2 => Passkey => VAIO
Hi,
Hoping someone can offer me more assistance ...
I did have my [friends] E2 at least talking on some level to the VAIO laptop which it was supposed to be seeing, although could not access web or anything so tried playing around per the tutorial suggested in previous post (the Whizoo tutorial), but now I can no longer connect to the VAIO at all.
The BT (Bluetooth) connection I think is ok, because in BT neighborhood it can see the E2, and the E2 can see the VAIO, but when I try to connect to the VAIO it (the E2) comes up and asks for a passkey, but no matter what I enter it just rejects everything and says that the device cannot be added to Trusted Devices. I don't get prompted on the VAIO to enter anything. Is there some way to get around this, or reset whatever passkey there is? ... This E2 setup is driving me insane.
Tried doing this for both the PC setup and the LAN setup, but same thing with each.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,

Re: E2 => Passkey => VAIO
The way it is supposed to work is that you enter any arbitrary password on one unit, and then enter the same password on the other unit, and then they will be paired via Bluetooth. It doesn't make sense that the VAIO isn't even giving you a chance - are you sure all the relevant Bluetooth services (serial port, file transfer, etc.) are enabled on the VAIO?

Re: E2 => Passkey => VAIO
Yes, I think so ... Or, rather, it had been working and I don't think I've changed anything related to that particular aspect, and so I can't figure out how to proceed, since I can't even get them connected (or "paired" I guess is the correct term).
I'm struggling with this stuff ... I thought setting this up would take about 10 minutes, and instead it's already taken 3 days and is still not working ...
Guess I'll mess around some more with it.

Re: E2 => Passkey => VAIO
Both the E2 and the Vaio should be asking you to make up and enter a passkey. (Most people just enter a string of zeros.) This is to demonstrate that the same human is in control of both machines, and agrees to them being "paired". Once paired, each device will show up in the other's Trusted Devices list, and you won't be asked again.
What happens if you enter a passkey on the E2 - does the Vaio THEN ask you to enter the same passkey?I see the aeroplanes a-carrying the bombs. / Why, you even found people to drop them on!
You know you can't keep what you take by force. / (But it's only my first impression of course.)

Re: E2 => Passkey => VAIO
janedunn, I just came across this item (page 20 of this PDF) which warns that some BT devices generate their own passkey, which you must then enter on the Palm.

Can you find anything about the Vaio pre-determining the passkey?I see the aeroplanes a-carrying the bombs. / Why, you even found people to drop them on!
