Tungsten E2 won't turn on any more
I bought my Palm in 5/05 and it's worked perfectly up until 10 days ago. I got a low battery message, then dropped it on a carpet (not hard) 10 minutes later, and now it won't turn on at all. I tried hard reset, soft reset, cradle reset, sacrificing chickens, etc... No luck. Someone else in these forums (I can't find the post any more) had suggested leaving it unplugged for a week, then plugging back in to recharge, but it still won't turn on. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Anyone know a good repair place in Dallas, Tx that won't involve sending it back to Palm? Because my other problem is that I can't find the serial number anywhere on the unit or the box (and I've looked everywhere), and as I understand it, Palm wants the serial number to create a help ticket...
Thanks in advance, y'all!!!

Have you tried putting in an SD card as that is an alternative way of switching it on. Doesn't sound too good though

Re: Tungsten E2 won't turn on any more
Serial number's always been on the back in my experience but there were some models where it apparently could be rubbed off. Otherwise, you'd need to switch it on to get at the number which is plainly not going to happen at the minute.
Juat an idea, have you tried plugging some headphones in and listening while attempting to turn the thing on. Any clicks or pops would at least tell you whether the device was turning on with a dead screen or whether the whole thing was dead.

Re: Tungsten E2 won't turn on any more
I knew I couldn´t be the only one.
My Tungsten C has the same problem. The difference is that I can see a "white" screen. It doesn´t beep, or make any sound. Just a white screen staring at you all the time..up to the point the battery´s run out. I do, however, know my serial number. Probably you registered the device when you bought it, and the serial number is on your registration sheet. Anyway, if you have a solutionfor your Palm, please let me know. I phoned Palm and they made me do all the known "reset" procs with no results.
Thanks. guillen25@lycos.co.uk. Fernando.

Re: Tungsten E2 won't turn on any more
Welcome to Brighthand penguinshrink and Aquiles.
The E2 is definitely past its 90 day warranty and the TC probably is as well. I'd take a look at Chris' services linked above and check with pdaparts.com and usedpdaparts.com.
As to the E2, the drop may have loosened something hardware-wise; don't know much about what could be the problem with the TC given the data provided.
Good luck.DT Lives in SFO...away from flying objects.

Re: Tungsten E2 won't turn on any more
Alleluiah!! I just got mine up and running again. Okay, here's what I did....
First off, one day my Tungsten E2 just would not turn on. So I followed the instructions I found online to let the battery completely drain for a week and then charge for 12 hours, then soft reset, hard reset, any kind of reset. I pushed every combination of buttons possible. Nothing. No response.
So I repeated this procedure 3 more times.(I had a spare Tungsten T to work with so I wasn't freaking out completely).
Finally I found a thread that suggested unplugging the battery and plugging it back in. The battery is not hard to unplug. Take the four screws off of the back of the unit, carefully pry the battery off of the inside back(it is held on with a very strong double sided tape), then gently pop the top of the battery connection off. Now I would suggest waiting a bit before plugging the battery back in. The first time I plugged it back I only got a white screen and remained a bit frustrated.
But then I decided to unplug the battery once again, and let it sit for 10 minutes. And when I plugged it back in.... VOILA!! I've got my Tungsten E2 back!!
Hope this helps others out there with the same problem. Have a great one...I know I will now!
