    Default Wi-Fi Free Public Spots

Just got the Tungsten C and am attempting to connect at locations with free connections. When I seem to connect I get all the not found web pages (www.Msn etc...) I am not very savvy, so any suggestions as to what I'm missing or what I need to set up, please let me know. Thanks.

I've not used public networks, but have you checked whether you need to enter a proxy address into the browser? This may vary according to whose network you log on to.

    Default WiFi Free Log-ins

I did walk in to Best-Buy and a salesperson said this Proxy stuff also. Where do you go about getting this information in "free public wi-fi "places. I assume you ask the appropriate person at the hotel, store (Apple), for theirs so you can log in then? When I was looking and shopping for this, noone even mentioned this stuff to me. If I sign up with a service such as T-Mobile will alot of this kind of problem go away? Thanks.

most of the time you just to go to the pref of your browser and "Disable Proxy" this should allow you to go the a sign on or agreement page of the provider. Once you agree and sign on you can turn the proxy back on if you wish.

Here's a great place to find free hot spots.

Getting a T-Mobile account will only help for Hot Spots that use T-Mobile. Many places offer free WiFi access and as stated it is free. Other places charge and may use the T-Mobile , WebBeams or similar accounts. Typically you can pay at the hotspot area by the hour or get a monthly account for those services. Some hotspots are straight shots to the internet, others require a login. There is no one size fits all approach. All you need to do is ask the folks behind the counter.

Two things not mentioned, that I have run into weather free or not is....

    1) It may depend on what version of Webpro you are using and weather it supports pop-up windows. Many times a login will appear as a pop-up and you not know it. If you are using the version that came with the T|C you will need to upgrade. I found that out quick enough the first time I tried to use it at a free hotspot.

    2) If the above has been satisfied then you will need to login to the hot spots web site before your able to go out on the internet. If the site is free...it should go to a login window or pop-up window the first time you try to open a web page and that will be the first thing you will have to do before trying email or anything else. If its not free you will asked for a subscription, in most cases or an access code.

    Hope that helps,

    Curly~
