    Default Versa MAil

I just bought my Tungsten C. It is fast and can do a lot. But I cannot get Versamail 2.5 to send email as I get a'501 syntax error' I know that others have gotten it as well but have not seen a resolution except to buy another piece of email. Palm's tech support in India is totally useless and they told me to return my defective unit. Does anyone have a work around to using versamail 2.5 via WiFi? It will send mail via my handheld. All other apps work over the web

    Thanks,

Sounds to me like it is an issue with your outgoing mail server. Make sure it is set up correctly, including providing user name and password if your ISP requires it. That should fix things and allow it to send.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked and re-checked and re-entered and created new accounts. I have 100 users using POP3 from their desktops and laptops thru this connection without any problems. I have even tried it from home and chenged all the info to my personal account - same error.. Login Password SMTP and POP3 all set correctly. Versamail is passing bad info outbound. I can watch what it does on my firewall monitor which is passing the versamail request. So it is not the firewall either in my office or at home. I have seen several posts with the same issues on other boards but no answers. Palm, India has no answers either except they told me that the unit must be defective and to return it.

    Well:

here is how it finally fleshed out. Palm India support sent back an email to me telling me to stop using esmtp when i am using TMobile WiFI.. Sadly, I never told them I was using either nor am I. They just don't get it. But I figured it out on my own. I created a new user and deleted the old user. That fixed it. Then i had another problem with what seemed to be corrupt email so I deleted them and all seems fine now. No thanks to Palm. I love the T/C but Palm should have it together and be able to support it.....sigh maybe next year!!!

Dell already stopped outsourcing technical support to India due to all the complaints, samething might happen with Palm.
