Can I connect my mobile to my T|C
I'm trying to connect my T|C to my nokia fone using the IR port. Ive downloaded the drivers for the phone from:
http://www.palmone.com/europe/mobile/drivers.html
Ive installed the driver and the T|C reboots after installation. However, in the preferences section I dont have the pick list in the top corner!!
The phone I am trying to connect is either the 8850 or the 650.
Is this the right way of trying to connect using IR?
Also does anyone know if it is possible to transfer SMS from the inbox of the phone to the palm??
I'll be really greatful for any help

Re: Can I connect my mobile to my T|C
Hm, sounds like the instructions you found might be for OS4.1 and below. The T/C's preferences layout is rather different.Originally posted by Ganda1f

From the main preferences screen, choose the "Communication" set, then from the box below choose "Connections" -- from here, choose the appropriate connection type (Probably "Serial to GSM Phone") and set the "Via" pulldown to Infrared". If the driver was correctly installed, you should also be able to choose your phone from the "Model" pulldown as well.
Once you've set up the connection correctly, go back to the Communications Prefs screen and choose "Phone", and select the connection profile you just created above.
That should be it. That should also get SMS working.

You need to add a new connection type for your phone. From the Connection prefs pane, tap "New...", and set the fields thusly:
Name: IR to Phone
Connect to: Phone
Via: Infrared
Model: [ choose the driver for your phone here ]
Check to make sure "Details..." has the right speed and init string for your phone (it probably does, these are set via the driver).
Once you're done that, you should be able to assign your Phone connection to this new connection from the Phone pref panel.

Ive tried to set the fields like that but when setting the
"connect to" field Im only given the following 3 options:
PC
Modem
Local Network.
was the driver I pointed out to you the only one that I need? The one specifically for my phone.
Do I also need an SMS application?

Yes, the TC sports no SMS application. You could try getGSM, which is AFAIK freeware or try funSMS.
It's a long time since I have connected my 8850 to my Vx, but it was doable and it should be not more difficult to connect it to the TC

I might be wrong, but isn't the SMS software included on the T/C's install disc?

Alternative connection
I hook up to a Motorola through IR by selecting PC and Infrared (not PHONE)Originally posted by Ganda1f
Ive tried to set the fields like that but when setting the
"connect to" field Im only given the following 3 options:
PC
Modem
Local Network
...
Then under the Network settings I configured a new connection to use the device, using a custom script I dug up in the Internet for the TimePort and my GPRS Carrier/Provider.
My cell phone had drivers for the Palm, but I never managed to get them working correctly.
