    Default Downloading ppt?

Hi actually i'm not a palm owner...yet...but am strongly considering buying a tungsten c for my university work, like downloading my lectures in powerpoint format. i was just wondering if i can download ppt files with the tungsten c cos i heard that palm devices can only recognise prc & pdb files?

    Thanks

There are a couple of things you could do. Probably the simplest would be to use the bundled Documents To Go program to convert the PPT file on your PC to a pdb file on the Palm, which would be read by Slideshow To Go.

The other way would be to put your PPT file onto a card, and use QuickOffice (which you'd have to buy) to read it, but I haven't tried this way.

QuickOffice takes Powerpoint files without any conversion needed. Is a good program.

Interesting question; to find an answer I put a link to a PPT on a web site, entered the location into Web Browser 2.0 on the T|C, and it downloaded it OK, and passed it on to QuickPoint, which was able to render the text sections, but not any graphical elements. Not being a big Powerpoint fan I don't often play with QuickPoint, but I'd assume the text-only rendering is down to its novelty, and in its defence omitting background graphics reduced a 1.2Mb file to 3kb on the T|C.
