    Default Tungsten C & DateBk 3

My favorite calendar app called DateBk 3 seems to be a little buggy for usage with my Tugsten C. At various times when entering data through the keyboard, and then pressing some button here and there, the unit will immediately freeze and a soft reset becomes necessary. This has happened several times and is getting annoying. This never happened with my previous m505 and Vx units.

Anybody else experienced this problem? Does anybody know if the latest DateBk 5 is compatible with the Tugsten C from first hand experience? I read the specs on the palmgear.com website, but there is very little information to confirm compatibility.

Also, I took it for granted that all new DateBk upgrades would be free. However, I downloaded the trial version of DateBk 5, but my old password for DateBk 3 would not work. This really sucks!

I especially like the "float" feature of DateBk which I use habitually. (Hey, why do today what you can put off til tomorrow?)

    Any advice welcomed.

I would be very surprised if Datebk3 would work at all on an OS5 device. You definitely need to load the latest preview version of Datebk5 that you can download from Pimlico's website.
As far as the registration code goes, I've been using the same code since at least Datebk4, if not 3. Be aware that it is tied to your HotSync ID. If you have changed that ID since you got your registration code, it will not work.
Even if you have to purchase Datebk5, it's a relatively small price for such a powerful program.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Skesler,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it looks like I will be purchasing the DateBk 5. I still have the same hotsynch name for the past 6 Palm units, so this time around they must be charging again. I actually did briefly tried the DateBk 4 version, but discarded it because I found it too bloated with features I didn't care to use. However, DateBk 4 recognized my same serial number, if I recall correctly.

Actually DateBk3 does work with my Tungsten C, but it's a bit buggy. I also discovered another new problem: when scrolling fast up or down the calendar dates, sometimes it will not scroll in the reverse direction. It just freezes, and will only scroll in the same direction--very strange. I tried the demo DateBk 5, and it did not have this same problem when scrolling. By the way, I installed DateBk 5 yesterday, and the app immediately said my 45 day trial period expired!! What's up with that?

Am I understanding you correctly that you are using the new DateBk 5 version with your Tungsten C without any problems?

    Thanks.

    Casey,

Yes, I am using the latest preview version of Datebk5 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I've had no abnormal indications, and all aspects of the program appear to function as advertised.

    Hope this helps.
