Default How can I wire ac charger directly to Treo

    Hi.
Happens when I am working (at home) I like to put my fav youtube channel and listen to it, my 700p battery goes down pretty quick, so I wonder if it is safe to wire the charger to the battery pinouts somehow.
I do put my charger on while Treo its on but it does not help to lengthen the battery charge.

    Have anyone done this?

I have some AA rechargeables lying around, it is another option to hack up an alternative battery for youtubin.

So having your Treo plugged into it's charger, streaming Youtube, and it is still running down battery? Correct?

    What charger are you using?

Yes, in a couple of hours. It is a wall charger 1A output. Besides my Treo is one of the funky ones that must be twisted so the charging begins, there was a problems with Treos not charging from wall chargers, mine is one of those, but I manage to make it work somehow.

The battery holds charge for a day of normal use, I use the stock battery.
I am not interested in purchasing a hi-capacity battery or a new one, just hack this on up. Hopefully I can spend some money on a Pre soon.

If I was going to hack on that sort of setup, I think I would try to find a charger at the same voltage, with a highter amp rating and splice into the connector. That's just my initial thought. Others with more electrical knowledge will probably throw their ideas in soon.

Just for reference, here is a diagram of the connector on the bottom of the Treo. Good luck.
    Past and current devices: Palm m505 (Sold) > Palm Zire 71 (nonfunctional working) > Tapwave Zodiac 1 (nonfunctional) > Palm Tungsten T5 (nonfunctional tenatively functioning) + SE w300i + 2GB SanDisk SD + Cheap $5 keyboard (that works…)(sold) > Cingular 8125 (retired) + 2GB MicroSD in adapter > Nokia N800 + 4GB SDHC + 8125's 2GB MicroSD in adapter + Palm M505

If you're just listening, try turning off the screen and bluetooth. Perhaps limiting the battery drain a bit while it's charging will do the trick. Are you listening through the Treo's built in speaker? I don't know, but have often wondered if that uses more power. Maybe using powered speakers through the headset jack will help. Anyone think this might help?
