Re: Should I get a spare 755p?
Girt, in a nutshell, to check the hede ticks, start PalmInternals, skip the DB readout process cause it's pointless for this subject, and click on the little button that reads "notifs." Or, open the dropdown menus, choose the first (More), and choose Full Notif.(ications). A window pops, check ROM, uncheck RAM, check Procedure, uncheck SubLaunch. According to your device, and the processes running, the list size will vary. You need a bit of experience to find the "---hede---" indicator. The point here is whether you can find a hede sublist or not. If it's present, it'll have the number of processes, related to the given apps, that may be lagging your device.
AFAIK, your device could have some wretched features as it comes from Verizon (go ask r0k), but I reckon you can do some tuning to make it behave better. As, a full in-house cleanup before you put it to work, starting with a hard reset or a factory reset, and next looking after all the OEM updates that may have been published for it. I remember there used to be a given number of firmware and OS updates, it'd be a good thing to see if your device lacks any. Next, I'd suggest you were very careful when installing apps and enhancements, doing it one app at a time and reviewing the Speed Tests and other diagnoses with PalmInternals."Do or do not. Re: Should I get a spare 755p?
Well I'm back.
Our story thus far - I Hard Reset the 755p multiple times, it already had the updates, and it lagged.
I sent it back.
I eventually bought another, thinking the first was a fluke.
Over the past two months, it has gotten more laggy, as far as I can tell.
I'm thinking along the lines someone said earlier, that Verizon 755p's may have issues of their own that Sprint customers don't have.
*sigh*
Now the camera has lost it's focus as well!
At this point I'm thinking "back to my 700p" now that it's out of the shop.Palmist 1996 - 2011

Re: Should I get a spare 755p?
You may look into getting a Centro. They seem to be more stable than the 700 or the 755. I got three for my teenagers at Christmas. they really like them. Now their PIM requirements are simple so they just use the stock Calender and such. They barely use the Internet and only to update their Face Book status
so Blazer is fine. They mostly text, talk, take pics and Video. The Centro is very good for that and their simple PIM needs.

Re: Should I get a spare 755p?
Thanks for the input, brickman, here and elsewhere. Ironically, I've bought Centros for two of my teens as well. They love them. (The other two kids are T9'ers and want to stick with small & slim dumbphones.) They've had zero problems with them, so a Centro may be in my near future as well.
It's a little weird that the cheap "teen" palm is better than the ones for businessmen. No wonder Palm went from being THE smartphone to beat (remember when reviewers would ask, "is this the Treo-killer?") to being essentially out of business. (now resurrected, but Palm as we knew it is gone.) Tragic.
Anyway, I'll testdrive my kid's Centro and see if I can hit the keys...
Brickman, you also mentioned that the iThings can make good PDA's. I'm interested, but that will take some doing. And I just ran out of time, as I found out today at work that in addition to taking on a new role, I get to keep my old one!
Meanwhile I'll keep lightly emailing on my iTouch and see if I can get my typing speed and endurance up.
