From AT&T Treo 680 to Sprint Treo 755p
Long story short. I now have a Sprint Treo 755p.
Two weeks ago, I was a AT&T (formerly Cingular) Motorola v557 user. My v557 died on me. I have been a long time Palm Tungsten E2 user and decided to get a "smart phone" as a replacement. I picked the Palm Treo 680 as a replacement.
I was excited at first but gradually became disgruntled as I found out all the extra costs that have to be paid to use the features of the Treo 680 through AT&T. However I ordered my Treo 680 ($149.99) and plowed ahead.
Here is how my AT&T charges broke out:
Phone service- $59.99
Text Messaging- $15.00
PDA Data Plan- $39.99
As I was talking to my wife about my pricing frustration she casually mentions that her mom (Sprint employee) can get us plans at a decent rate. Skeptically, I wondered what decent was. Well, this past Saturday 22 Sep 07 I went to the Sprint store with my mother-in-law. I about passed out when I was told I could get on the employee advantage club plan for $15.00 a month with all of the above services included.
Needless to say, I purchased a Palm Treo 755p for $199.00 and signed up for the plan. What is even better, there is no contract. If my mother-in-law ever leaves Sprint the plan reverts to SERO pricing which is still a steal compared to what AT&T was charging me.
What floored me the most is how much more functionality and capability is loaded on Sprints Treo 755p compared to AT&T's Treo 680. Here is a list of what is on the Sprint Treo that isn't on the AT&T Treo 680:
Bejeweled
Google Maps
On Demand -What a great ap this is.
Sprint TV- no charge for this and it is cool
pTunes- I have no idea what this is. Assuming it is something music related
Get Nuan?
I am still exploring the programs and haven't got familiar with everything yet. The Treo 755p was definitely worth the extra money with all of the additional loaded software. And, for $15.00 a month for everything, how could I go wrong?

pTunes is Pocket Tunes, which is an MP3 player app.
Seriously, $15? Does your mother-in-law have any other unmarried relatives?

Congratulations on your new 755p and the great plan.

Hope your wife also has a new phone that pleases her.

Another 755p user! Welcome to the club! That device is just smoke'n isn't it. You got quite the deal on your plan. I too have the SERO plan, and I can't tell you how happy I am with it (after I got all the kinks worked out).
Current Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II - Rooted Stock ROM

Wow, the AT&T branded 680 doesn't come with Bejeweled and pTunes? I bought mine unlocked...glad I did (especially as I'm on T-Mobile). That's a fantastic deal--I think I might make the jump to Sprint on my next phone, but not ready yet. Good luck and enjoy your 755P!
